This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 12th Enterprise Engineering Working Conference on Advances in Enterprise Engineering XVI, EEWC 2022, held in Leusden, The Netherlands, November 2–3, 2022. EEWC aims at addressing the challenges that modern and complex enterprises are facing in a rapidly changing world. The participants of the working conference share a belief that dealing with these challenges requires rigorous and scientific solutions, focusing on the design and engineering of enterprises. The goal of EEWC is to stimulate interaction between the different stakeholders, scientists as well as practitioners, interested in making Enterprise Engineering a reality. The 4 full papers and 2 short papers included in this book were carefully reviewed and selected from 13 submissions. In addition, there are 2 invited papers from keynote presentations. Enterprise ontology is one of the conceptual pillars of enterprise engineering, next to enterprise design and enterprise governance, together accomplishing the goals of intellectual manageability, organisational concinnity and social devotion. By revealing the essence of an enterprise's organisation, enterprise ontology addresses business processes, data and rules in a fundamental and truly integrated way. In addition, it provides deep insight into and broad overview over complex organisational transformations. The book is divided into three parts. Part I is an introduction in enterprise engineering and enterprise ontology. Part II explores the theories underlying enterprise ontology, explaining the foundations of each theory, the elaborations in practical methods and techniques, and the relationships with other comparable approaches. This book and its companion volume, LNCS vols. 6145 and 6146, constitute the proceedings of the International Conference on Swarm Intelligence (ICSI 2010) held in Beijing, the capital of China, during June 12-15, 2010. ICSI 2010 was the ?rst gathering in the world for researchers working on all aspects of swarm intelligence, and providedan academic forum for the participants to disseminate theirnewresearch?ndingsanddiscussemergingareasofresearch.Italsocreated a stimulating environment for the participants to interact and exchange inf- mation on future challenges and opportunities of swarm intelligence research. ICSI 2010 received 394 submissions from about 1241 authors in 22 countries and regions (Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Cyprus, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Islamic Republic of Iran, Japan, Jordan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Norway, Pakistan, South Africa, Chinese Taiwan, UK, USA, Vietnam) across six continents (Asia, Europe, North America, South America, Africa, and Oceania). Each submission was reviewed by at least three reviewers. Based on rigorous reviews by the Program Committee members and reviewers, 185 high-quality papers were selected for publication in the proceedings with the acceptance rate of 46.9%.
