If any of us learned we were going to move to a foreign country, we'd do everything we could to learn about that place so that we'd be prepared when moving day arrived. As Christians, we know some day we will leave our familiar country and be united with God in heaven. And yet many of us know very little about this place called heaven. In this enlightening book, bestselling author Dr. Robert Jeffress opens the Scriptures to unpack ten surprising truths about heaven and explain who we will see there and how we can prepare to go there someday. Perfect for believers or skeptics who are curious about heaven.
On December 23, 1966, eighteen-year-old Gary Wood was driving with his younger sister Sue along a dark street in their hometown. They were heading home, singing Christmas songs, when Sue spotted an illegally parked tow truck sticking into their lane of traffic. Her scream pierced the night only a moment before the car crashed headlong into the obstruction. Join Dr. Wood as he recaps his miraculous experience of twenty minutes spent in A Place Called Heaven. Just before he returned to earth, Gary was commissioned by Jesus to make Him real to people, wherever he went. In the time since, he has overcome medical mysteries and the threats of unfriendly bikers, all while thanking God for his inspired life.

Children ask a lot of questions. When a death occurs in their family or circle of friends, those questions inevitably turn toward heaven. Is heaven real? Where is it? What will we do there? How do we get there? And more. Parents and grandparents often find themselves at a loss to explain a place that they suddenly may realize they don't know much about either. Colorfully illustrated and using simple concepts and language that children ages 4-7 can understand, A Place Called Heaven for Kids provides answers to 10 of these common questions. In doing so, it gives children peace of mind about their lost loved one as well as a comforting, biblical picture of their forever home. For parents, grandparents, and caregivers, it offers a positive, constructive way to grieve, hope, and grow with the children in their lives.
In A City Called Heaven, Robert M. Marovich follows gospel music from early hymns and camp meetings through its growth into the sanctified soundtrack of the city's mainline black Protestant churches. Marovich mines print media, ephemera, and hours of interviews with artists, ministers, and historians--as well as relatives and friends of gospel pioneers--to recover forgotten singers, musicians, songwriters, and industry leaders. He also examines the entrepreneurial spirit that fueled gospel music's rise to popularity and granted social mobility to a number of its practitioners. As Marovich shows, the music expressed a yearning for freedom from earthly pains, racial prejudice, and life's hardships. Yet it also helped give voice to a people--and lift a nation. A City Called Heaven celebrates a sound too mighty and too joyous for even church walls to hold.
A young boy emerges from life-saving surgery with remarkable stories of his visit to heaven. Heaven Is for Real is the true story of the four-year old son of a small town Nebraska pastor who during emergency surgery slips from consciousness and enters heaven. He survives and begins talking about being able to look down and see the doctor operating and his dad praying in the waiting room. The family didn't know what to believe but soon the evidence was clear. Colton said he met his miscarried sister, whom no one had told him about, and his great grandfather who died 30 years before Colton was born, then shared impossible-to-know details about each. He describes the horse that only Jesus could ride, about how "reaaally big" God and his chair are, and how the Holy Spirit "shoots down power" from heaven to help us. Told by the father, but often in Colton's own words, the disarmingly simple message is heaven is a real place, Jesus really loves children, and be ready, there is a coming last battle.
As we face the realities of our broken world, where misunderstanding and violence tear people apart and sickness ravages the globe, we reach out for some hope to hold on to. The greatest hope we have is the promise of heaven. But so many of us know so little about what awaits us after this life is over, and what we do know is often influenced far more by TV and movies than God's Word. With powerful biblical truths drawn from his bestselling book A Place Called Heaven, Dr. Robert Jeffress offers much-needed comfort, hope, and encouragement to the hurting and fearful in a portable and easily digestible format. Filled with inspiring Scripture, breathtaking photos, and words of wisdom, this beautiful book is the perfect gift for anyone going through stressful times, struggling with chronic illness, or grieving the loss of a loved one.
If heaven is truly a paradise where God dwells, we should desire it more than anything on this frail, fleeting earth. The trials and difficulties of life should each be seen in light of the coming glory of heaven. Unfortunately, we rarely view things from this perspective. Our schedules are filled with the present, allowing no time for contemplating or desiring eternity. Our incorrect perspective makes us spend our time on the least important things while ignoring those things that are most crucial. Take a break from the present and let E. M. Bounds help you discover A Place Called Heaven. Examining virtually all the Scriptures that pertain to heaven, Bounds masterfully explains the nature of heaven and our purpose in it. Get a taste of heaven here on earth, learn a true Christian attitude toward eternity, and discover a purer, truer life.
All of us, at some time or the other, will come face to face with death and the passing away of a loved one. The Bible describes death and the life hereafter. I made a choice to believe what the Bible teaches us about death and heaven. These words brought great strength, comfort, peace, courage and hope. I share some of these with you in this book. May the Word of God that brought me comfort do the same for you, in your hour of need! Watch our online Sunday Church service live stream every Sunday at 10:30am (Indian Time, GMT+5:30). You are about to read Dr. Robert G. Lee's greatest sermon - in my opinion. I know this is a broad statement for he is noted for his great sermons. Many of us believe him to be the greatest orator of our day, and one of the greatest sermonizers of all time. His messages have the depth of a Spurgeon, the eloquence of a Demosthenes, the wisdom of a Solomon, and the inspiration of a Longfellow. Dr. Lee has inspired me with his sermons many times. Along with thousands of others who have heard him at great conventions, his masterful messages have lifted me into the heavenlies. But never has anything he has written or spoken so stirred me as this message on "The Place Called Heaven." I shall never, never forget the first time I read it. I was conducting a revival in Aiken County, South Carolina. He had come to deliver his famous "Pay Day - Some Day" sermon. Some 4,500 people had been blessed by the message. Although I had heard it several times I was on "shouting ground" When we returned to our rooms that night, Dr. Lee gave me this message on Heaven to "look over." I did not put it down until I had completed it. Many times I had to stop reading to wipe away the tears. I was so stirred until I hardly slept that night. I was ready to leave the great revival and go at once to heaven. Dr. Lee is to bring the message at my funeral, if I precede him in death. I want him to use the substance of this book. In all sincerity I expect the mourners (if there be any) to forget my funeral and want to shout as they see heaven painted as no mortal man ever pictured it. I expect sinners to forsake their sordid sins and seek that city whose builder and maker is God. This book will remove the fear of death from the saved, comfort those bereft of loved ones and bring sinners to repentance. - Evangelist E. J. Daniels
