Join Kris Wilson, a working cowboy and founder of Western Faithbook, on a 40-day journey of transformation, hope, and grace. For cowboys there is a set of unwritten rules known as cowboy etiquette. Not all the rules are the same, and often they will be different from outfit to outfit. However, one thing remains the same. The rules are deeply rooted in a respect for one another and the quality by which they perform their job or trade. Respect amongst a group of men or cowboys is earned and not bestowed. By spending just a few minutes a day, for 40 days, you'll be transformed from a cowboy to a Christian. Just as the cowboy boss drops off his crew for the day at various spots throughout the ranch, let the Lord drop you off. Try it. Give God the same undivided attention that you give your drive leader every morning. In the next 40 days, He has a plan to change your life. "'For I know the plans I have for you, ' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart" (Jeremiah 29:11-13 NIV). Whether you are a working cowboy on a line camp somewhere, or a weekend warrior who simply loves the lifestyle, give Him the opportunity to move in your life. You may not be the cowboy yourself. You may be his wife, mother, father, brother, sister or friend. That's okay, give Him the opportunity to move in your life. You may not be a cowboy at all simply because you are a cowgirl. That's okay, one of my best full-time cowboys is a cowgirl. If that's you, give Him the opportunity to move in your life. For the next 40 days, pull your cinch tight, jig in behind Christ, give Him your undivided attention, and allow Him to drop you off.
The Gospel of John Cowboy Style: A Paraphrase of the Gospel in Cowboy Language steps into the boots of countless books, compositions, paintings, and sculptures that have, over the centuries, turned to the gospels for inspiration and to particular cultures for means of expression. Author Mel Hooten, drawing upon personal history and long experience, retells the gospel of John in the lingo of the cowboy. From start to finish, including both the gospel writers narrative and every figures words, this retelling presents the gospel afresh through the straight-talking dialect of the Texas Panhandles traditional cowboys. With this approach, The Gospel of John Cowboy Style presents familiar passages in a new light. In John 3:16, for example, Jesus says, Ya see, God loves this world so much, that He gave His one and only Son to die, so that every man, woman, boy, and girl who believes in Him will not die, but will be a-livin forever. If you struggle with unfamiliar words in traditional translations of the Bible, The Gospel of John Cowboy Style offers an easy-to-understand retelling of the good news of Jesus Christ. Whether you love the heritage of the American West or enjoy the thrill of hearing the gospel in new ways, this paraphrase will rope you in with its powerful mixture of cowboy culture and gospel content.
As a pastor of Mountain Top Cowboy Church I have discovered that there is little material designed specifically for cowboy churches or cowboy ministries. Although I have been in the ministry for 14 years I had never considered writing a book however the Lord had other plans. In October of 2009 I broke my leg while competing at a 40 and over bull riding which required surgery. I do not believe that it was God's plan for me to ride a bull at the age of 46 but this book is an example that the Lord will use every situation we are in for good if we will allow Him to use us. During my time of recovery I started writing poems and short stories about my rodeo days then it turned to cowboy poetry. In the beginning it was a way to pass the time and deal with my situation. As I continued to write I began to relate my poems to scripture and it was then that the Lord truly began to use them to reach others. After sharing a few with my church I discovered that they could be a useful tool in cowboy churches and ministries or those in the western culture. This book of poems and proverbs is just another example of the Lord's Grace and Mercy in my life; it is because of His love that I am On The Trail

In an age when fathers are more important than ever, how do you embark on your journey to manhood and know how to steer clear of the dangers along the way? In Fathered by God, New York Times bestselling author John Eldredge reminds us that there's a path to masculinity and, best of all, there's a loving Father ready to help us follow it. In Fathered by God, Eldredge calls men back to a simple and reassuring truth: God is our Father, and he wants to show us what masculinity really means. Eldredge teaches us that there's a path leading to authentic manhood, cut by generation after generation of men. There are perils along the trail, even disasters--all the more reason to rely on the guidance of a Father who has gone before us. A boy has a lot to learn in his journey to becoming a man, and it takes the active intervention of father figures and the fellowship of other men to guide us along the way. Eldredge shares that in all of life's trials and triumphs, God is initiating boys and men through the stages of manhood. Through personal stories and practical guidance, Eldredge provides a map through the six stages of a man's journey and answers some of the most common questions about manhood that he's received over the years, including: How can I set a good example for my son? What does the Bible teach us about masculinity? How can I become the man that God designed me to be? Fathered by God maps out the path of manhood--not more rules, not another list of principles, not formulas, but a well-worn path that men have followed for centuries before us. Discover the truth about masculinity and become the man that God sees in you.
