Excerpt from A Classed and Annotated Bibliography of the Paleozoic Crustacea 1698-1892, to Which Is Added a Catalogue of the North American Species The object of this paper is to give the literature on the Palseozoic Crustacea and to aid students and palaeontologists in their researches. It is the result of more or less constant work during the past decade. It gives a list of authors, and includes an index of the species described in each work. I am well aware that the value of a work of this kind depends upon the care and labor given to its compilation. Every possible means of obtaining accurate information from a miscellaneous class of literature in many languages has been used, and it is hoped that there are but few errors and omissions. "Fabulous Fossils is a timely and significant contribution to the history of science and evolutionary paleontology. It details humanity's interest and developing understanding of trilobites from the recovery of these fossils at 15,000 year-old Paleolithic sites, to the 18th century appreciation that they were arthropod fossils. This volume elaborates on the development of modern trilobite research in Australia and a number of American, European, and Asian countries"--Publisher's description.
"The third edition of Ecology and Classification of North American Freshwater Invertebrates continues the tradition of in-depth coverage of the biology, ecology, phylogeny, and identification of freshwater invertebrates from the USA and Canada. This text serves as an authoritative single source for a broad coverage of the anatomy, physiology, ecology, and phylogeny of all major groups of invertebrates in inland waters of North America, north of Mexico." --Book Jacket.
This work weaves important strands of the paleontological literature into a coherent worldview that emphasizes the importance of understanding the geological record.
