Developing a learning mindset is essential in a rapidly changing world. But how can you adopt this approach? What qualities do you need? What role do technology and neuroscience play? How can it boost innovation, problem-solving and collaboration? The Learning Mindset has the answers. Written by an international learning expert, this book explains what a learning mindset is and what the benefits are for individuals, teams and the wider organization. It covers the competencies needed for this approach such as imagination, curiosity, consilience, empathy and openness. This book shows how these traits can be developed in everyone, whilst still celebrating their individual differences. This essential guide outlines how to overcome negative emotions and embrace learning, how to foster social collaboration and lean learning, how to become a learning leader and how a learning approach can turn challenges into opportunities. There is also coverage of the neuroscience of learning, the importance of diversity for innovation, the evolution of artificial intelligence and how humans and technology can work in symbiosis for the best results. Packed full of insights, advice, practical guidance and interviews from leaders at global companies, this is crucial reading for everyone looking to develop a learning mindset in themselves, their teams or their organizations to thrive in a constantly changing world.
The "future of work" is no longer a buzzword. It is abundantly clear the way we (will) work is changing and will continue to change. #ZigZagHR offers an original, performing and sustainable framework to explore what is expected (and needed) from HR today and tomorrow. #ZigZagHR is not a plea for tabula rasa. Besides, that is also impossible for most companies. #ZigZagHR wants to paint a picture to organizations, employers and, most importantly HR, that communicates traditional HR is no longer sufficient and must evolve with an extra dimension to become what we describe as "progressive HR." The authors propose a #ZigZagHR-Model where they connect different ideas and insights around workers, careers, competencies, and HR operations. With their vision and model the authors hope to develop a (global) #ZigZagHR-Ecosystems: a dynamic and heterogenous community of progressive HR practitioners and non-HR professionals who across the borders of their own company and countries develop and share innovative people solutions. The authors base their vision and practical applications on their experience in different continents.
This book contains the texts of the main lectures presented at the NATO Advanced Studies Institute on "Advances in Preparation and Properties of Stereoregular Polymers" held at Tirrenia near Pisa, Italy, from October 3 to 14, 1978. A few contributed papers have also been included because they were concerned with topics not included in the main lectures. The primary objective of the Institute was to assist in the further development of stereoregular polymers because of the ever-increasing demand for new products with exceptional chemical and physical properties. This need has reawakened interest in the field. Indeed there is now a rapidly increasing activity in the study of stereoregular polymerization and the preparation of structurally-ordered polymers with the aim of achieving apprecia ble improvements in existing polymeric materials through new developments in synthesis and properties as well as in discovering new polymeric structures. In order to achieve these objectives, a broad interdiscipli nary cooperation among scientists involved in investigations on the design, synthesis, characterization and application of stereo regular or structurally-ordered polymers will be necessary.
A complete guide to using multimodal imaging in cardiac practice Interactive DVD includes moving images from the text 4 STAR DOODY'S REVIEW! "In addition to compiling the various imaging modalities used for clinical diagnosis in cardiovascular disease, the book also summarizes the present and future applications of combined imaging modalities for better understanding the underlying pathophysiologic basis of cardiovascular diseases....This book is unique in the way it comprehensively reviews both the current and future applications of multiple imaging modalities."--Doody's Review Service Multimodal Cardiovascular Imaging: Principles and Clinical Applications offers a unique “matrix” approach to help you choose the most appropriate combination of imaging modalities for the management of patients with cardiovascular disease. The book discusses the various options available, how they work, the benefits and drawbacks of each, and what modalities will best work in conjunction with each other for a specific condition. Featuring contributions from more than 60 international authors and enriched by 225 half-tone modality images and 130 full-color illustrations, Multimodal Cardiovascular Imaging: Principles and Clinical Applications is divided into three sections: Section 1 contains chapters that focus on the use of ten specific clinically available diagnostic modalities and their broad application to clinical cardiology. Modalities discussed include: Echocardiography Phonocardiography Myocardial Perfusion SPECT and PET Coronary Angiography Cardiac CT Section 2 includes six chapters that present “visions of the future” for combining multiple diagnostic modalities. They form the foundation for understanding the pathophysiologic basis of clinical cardiovascular conditions using prototypes, simulations, models, and tutorials. Section 3 considers several cardiovascular conditions and how multimodal imaging can provide diagnostic and therapeutic decision support to optimize the clinical care for each of them. Some chapters in this section also include case reports of how clinicians/scientists are using multimodal imaging modalities to improve their clinical therapeutic decision support. Conditions include: Congenital Heart Disease Ischemic Heart Disease Acute Myocardial Infarction Aortic Disease Atrial Fibrillation
In the past 30 years, technology has caused waves of disruptive developments, each crashing onto society and business alike. With the tide building and the pace accelerating, the next wave promises to come in big. These new challenges have a societal and environmental impact, are systemic and increasingly complex. Our old ways of doing business don’t suffice anymore. Furthermore, the future is too fast and too complex to go at it alone. In the future, competition will happen on the level of ecosystems, not just on the level of companies, products or services. This book gives companies the tools to build mutually beneficial, equal and sincere partnerships. We call them metasystems. And we believe them to be the most suitable armor for the next decade. Metasystems are built on trust and purpose. The biggest challenge is how to leverage the soft side, the human factor again. “It’s a pivotal time, both exciting and frightening. By joining forces, we believe businesses can accelerate, innovate and create a desirable future horizon.” - Dado Van Peteghem “The war of all against all has ended. It’s time to reinstate the essence of business: collaborating to fuel progress and a prosperous future.” - Nils van Dam ABOUT THE AUTHORS Dado Van Peterghem - Dado is a founding partner at the transformation advisory firm Scopernia, and co-founder of startups Social Seeder and Speakersbase, giving more than 100 speeches a year on topics as digital transformation, innovation and ecosystem thinking. The psychological contract is considered a critical construct in organizational behavior literature because it informs employee emotions, attitudes, and behaviors in the workplace. Although the psychological contract has been explored extensively over the last 50 years, numerous theoretical, conceptual, empirical, methodological, and analytical changes have pushed the field forward. As such, it is time to take stock and move forward. The contributors to this Handbook explore in detail this important component of modern management thinking.
