This is the report of a panel appointed to review the workers' compensation acts, safety acts, and the general safety regulations of the Northwest Territories & Nunavut. Work of the panel included hearing oral presentations & reviewing written submissions from stakeholder groups, reporting on the results of this consultation process, and making recommendations for changes to the acts. After introductory sections on the work of the panel and the general themes heard during the consultations, the report reviews the issues considered and presents the panel's findings & recommendations, if any, related to the following: the fundamental principles of the acts; worker compensation board authority, accountability, & personnel; the review & appeals process; compensation benefits; assessment & classification of employers; the Accident Fund; access to information; financial penalties; employer responsibilities; environmental change; administration; and workplace safety. Recommendations made throughout the report are also summarized at the end. Includes glossary.
