Bah humbug...Christmas in Paris, Texas ain't all it's cracked up to be! Cozy Meadows, a middle school music teacher, is a little low on spirit this holiday season. After being abandoned by her fiancé Finn Donovan months earlier, she's just not the same. When her werewolf friend Calla asks her to head up Hallow Moon Senior Center's Christmas recital for the Council of Elders and the residents of Paris, she dives in head first. What better way to keep her mind busy while she tries to get over the hunky Finn? Until Finn comes back to their hometown of Paris, Texas. Fresh from a stint in magic abuse prison, Finn behaves as though he didn't literally disappear the night of their engagement party. He's all smiles and still sexy as sin. Cozy's got her hands full with the wily seniors—who call themselves The Depends Patrol—and her feisty familiar Jorge, as she tries to navigate the return of Finn and keep track of the seniors and their shenanigans. But things get a whole lot worse when someone makes an attempt on her life. It's Christmas, daggonit! Shouldn't killers take at least one day off a year? Everything isn't as it seems, including a secret Cozy's kept most of her life. A secret that just may end up costing her that very life... *Not intended for readers under the age of 18. *Previously Published: (2016) Book Boutiques (2015) Alphas Unwrapped Anthology A Paris, Texas Romance series by Dakota Cassidy 1. Twists, turns, and suspects aplenty! "My tiny town of Fig Harbor's just recovering from our last tango with murder, only to be faced with yet another—and this time, it sure looks an awful lot like a vampire's on the loose in the Pacific Northwest. Vampires are just Twilight fiction, right? I'm not so sure after a murder victim is found in my koi pond right next to my favorite fish, Koi George, (not good!) with bite marks on her neck, and a gothic antique chalice next to her body with what sure looks like blood residue. By now, everyone knows I can't keep my nose out of a good mystery. But when I literally try to stay out of the fray while our town conspiracy theorist is yelling vampires have invaded our beloved Fig Harbor, I have no choice but to gather up all the garlic I can buy and put my sleuthing shoes back on!” No way. Vampires aren't real. Period! Or are they? Find out in Play That Funky Music White Koi Book 2 of A Lemon Layne Mystery from USA Today bestselling cozy mystery author Dakota Cassidy. Intrigue, magic spells gone awry and one hot, sexy hunk! After spending ten months in magic-abuse jail for a crime she doesn't remember committing, accident-prone witch-in-denial Bernice Sutton is zapped to the small paranormal town of Paris, Texas. With Miss Fee Line, her kitty drag-queen familiar by her side, Bernie just wants to fulfill the terms of her parole--shoveling horse and cow dung on a ranch--so she can get back to Boston and dig into the mystery of her parents' deaths and her witch lineage. But plans be damned, Bernie's quickly distracted by the town's quirky cast of magical characters, from Winnie--the sassy owner of the local witch halfway house--to the entire posse of Poise Pad wearers at the senior center. And then there's the biggest distraction of all, Ridge Donovan, Mr. Hot-Pants ranch owner. Maybe it couldn't hurt to let them teach her how to harness her magic; if nothing else, it might make her less of a walking disaster. And Ridge is one hunk--er, *helpful* study partner. Between learning spells, wreaking havoc on the ranch, turning bingo night at the senior center into a "whirlwind" of excitement, and fighting her attraction to Ridge, Bernie is unprepared for an unwelcome person from her past. On one hand, he's the key to her lifelong questions. On the other, he could destroy the new life she's coming to enjoy--and the lives of all those she's coming to love. My name is Sister Trixie Lavender, and I’m an occasionally possessed excommunicated nun. Okay, that’s a lot to swallow at once. But it’s true I was booted from the convent after doing something unspeakable. Something I had no control over. Something that lives inside me to this day, exploding out like that chestburster in Alien when I least suspect it. But I have help. My amazing friend Coop—the demon who saved me from an ugly end—remains by my side, loyal and true. She was Hell’s best tattoo artist back in the day, and together with my designs, we’re opening Inkerbelle’s Tattoos and Piercings, right in the heart of Portland’s most darling district, Cobbler Cove. Of course, our bid to fit in would be a little less rocky if I could help Coop assimilate with humans, keep a lid on our sassy talking owl, Livingston…oh, and if someone hadn’t killed our landlord on day one—in our shop. This mystery-loving, bumbling ex-nun and her trusty demon sidekick are on the case! If I don’t bumble my way right into my own demise first…
Five years ago, Brock Adams disappeared from Cedar Glen, New Jersey, never to be seen or heard from again, leaving behind his wife Faith, his daughters...and two sons under a family curse. But when a disguised Brock sneaks back into Cedar Glen, he finds the curse still very much in effect. He also bumps into Faith, who he aches for just as much now as the day he left. Coming back was a horrible idea. Winston, his foul-tempered fairy friend, told him so. But did Brock listen? Noooo. He's listening to his heart and his libido, and both are begging for one more moment in Faith's arms. So what if she doesn't even know it's really him? And one of his sons hates him? And he'll have to leave again? And he has a vindictive witch on his trail. Detective McBride has his hands full as he tries to catch a murderer while dealing with the voice in his head...a deliciously sexy voice that has his libido working overtime. Devoid of her sense of smell, it's business as usual when a clueless Spencer meets Larkin McBride. So what's "Detective McYummy" to do when the luscious Miss Polanksi's thoughts are consumed by the body count in her sleepy town...and the possibility that the murderer could be one of her own kind? Conspiracy, suspects, bedlam, and murder! "My name is Lemon Layne, and if asked to describe myself, like maybe on a dating site (which is never gonna happen), I'd have to go with best convenience store/barbecue joint owner in the Pacific Northwest. I live in the tiny tourist town of Fig Harbor, Washington with my adorably neurotic best friend, Coco Belinski, my a-little-left- of-center (read totally out there) mom, May, and my troublemaking pet monkey, Jessica Fletcher. Oh, and last but certainly not least, I'm a dyed-in-the-wool amateur sleuth. Yep. I'm literally incapable of resisting a good mystery. No matter how great or small, I love to stick my nose into...er, help solve a crime. From the mysterious disappearance of Ho Hos in my store, to a lost piece of jewelry, I'm always ready to put on my Sherlock Holmes cap (I really do have one. Got it when I was eight). When I find my mother's ex-boyfriend murdered in our convenience store bathroom with a piece of his skull missing, and my mom's a suspect in a murder investigation, my mystery solving goes from zero to a hundred. To really make matters worse, the town's local conspiracy theorist and official doomsday prepper, Cappie somehow finds out the victim isn't just missing a piece of his skull--he's missing a piece of his brain! And that's when off the wall Cappie starts spreading word the zombie apocalypse has officially arrived in our tiny burg. Total chaos ensues and I have to pick my way through everything from weekend warrior zombie hunters to medical mysteries in order to catch a killer!" Zombies? Really? Not real, right? Sister Trixie Lavender here! After a rocky start (read: murdered landlord) to our arrival in Cobbler Cove, OR, things have finally slowed down. Er…mostly. My demon buddy Coop and I, along with our sassy talking owl Livingston, have settled nicely into our newly opened shop, Inkerbelle’s Tattoos. We’ve met some awesome people, including new friends Higgs and Knuckles, and we’re forging friendships with our fellow business owners. And sure, we’ve had a few glitches (see Jeff), but we’ve found our groove, our clientele is growing, and everything’s pretty great. That is, until Portland’s World Naked Bike Ride finds us smack dab in the middle of another murder mystery! Yep, you read that right. Naked people. On bikes. It ain’t pretty. And even less so when a dead, bare biker lands right on our doorstep. But this ex-nun is prepared this time. There’s not going to be any fumbling-around-in-the-dark nonsense for this girl. No, sir. I’ve trained, sacrificed, studied… Okay. Not true. I’ve binge-watched a lot of police shows on Netflix. But I’m armchair ready, if nothing else. So ready! Now, if only the evil spirit possessing me would let me investigate in peace—and I don’t end up dead in the process. Join me, Coop, Livingston, and Higgs for another Nun of Your Business Mystery!
Hello! It's me again, Trixie Lavender and my best demon friend the stoic but adorable Coop. Things have been going pretty great for us these days. Inkerbelle's Tattoos is doing well financially. Our clientele is growing by the day, and we're about to purchase the guest house we’ve been living in from our dear friend Knuckles. Finally, we'll have the roots we've so desperately yearned for. Now, if only we could figure out how to get rid of the troublesome demon inside me... We’ve also been focusing on Coop and her efforts to live her best life. As a newb to Earth, she’s on a quest to experience as much as she possibly can and that includes her latest passion, makeup. While attending an event for Coop’s favorite beauty guru and online superstar Glitzy Mitzy, we watch in horror as she dies right before our very eyes. Naturally, we suspect foul play, but with no clues, and the police not calling Mitzy's death a murder, we have little to go on. But does that stop me? Nah. So you know what that means—it’s time to break out our best spyware and solve this murder!
