We all have a hard time waiting. Waiting at red lights. Waiting at the doctor's office. Waiting in line at the store. Waiting nine months to have a baby. We are not patient people by our nature. We are an instant society. In Psalm 40:1, David encourages us by saying: "I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry." What a challenge we can receive from this passage of Scripture! Our timetable is not the same as God's. God wants us to be totally and completely given to Him. He wants us to constantly be in an attitude of prayer, so that He can constantly be working in us and through us. God gave me this study as an encouragement that He is always there. We don't take the time to wait on Him and we miss the blessings that He has for us. But if we will just slow down and talk to Him and listen to Him, His blessings will come and we will find the joy of His presence in the midst of our circumstances. He has something special that He wants you to learn. Ask Him to reveal Himself to you! Then get ready to know Him as you have never known Him before. Wait patiently for the Lord. This book is designed to be used as a weekly Bible study or Sunday School Curriculum. It goes verse by verse and sometimes phrase by phrase through Psalm 40. All Scripture references are in the King James Version.
Everyone worships. But Jesus tells us that God is seeking a particular kind of worshiper. In True Worshipers, a seasoned pastor and musician guides readers toward a more engaging, transformative, and biblically faithful understanding of the worship God is seeking. True worship is an activity rooted in the grace of the gospel that affects every area of our lives. And while worship is more than just singing, God’s people gathering in his presence to lift their voices in song is an activity that is biblically based, historically rooted, and potentially life-changing. Thoroughly based in Scripture and filled with practical guidance, this book connects Sunday worship to the rest of our lives—helping us live as true worshipers each and every day.
Find help and hope for times when it's hard to wait on God Do you ever feel like God is taking too long to answer your prayers? Have you ever taken matters into your own hands, only to discover that you’ve made the situation worse? Waiting on God challenges our faith when the bills are stacking up, our families are falling apart, or our dreams feel like they won't come true. We know that God hears our prayers, but it’s hard when the clock is ticking yet He hasn’t shown us the answer. In this four-week Bible study, Barb Roose invites us to explore the stories of women in the Bible who had to wait on God— women such as Hannah, Ruth, Tamar, and the unnamed woman who suffered for over a decade with a painful medical condition. If you’ve felt anxious, angry, discouraged or depressed because God isn’t giving you what you want, their stories will breathe fresh hope and practical next steps in your life. As a reforming control lover, Barb mixes in her personal stories of learning how to wait for God during long seasons of unanswered prayers, family difficulties, and challenging times in ministry. Together we will discover that there is goodness and blessing to be found in times of waiting, including a closer relationship with God than we’ve ever dared to dream. New York Times bestseller What is Jesus worth to you? It's easy for American Christians to forget how Jesus said his followers would actually live, what their new lifestyle would actually look like. They would, he said, leave behind security, money, convenience, even family for him. They would abandon everything for the gospel. They would take up their crosses daily... But who do you know who lives like that? Do you? In Radical, David Platt challenges you to consider with an open heart how we have manipulated the gospel to fit our cultural preferences. He shows what Jesus actually said about being his disciple--then invites you to believe and obey what you have heard. And he tells the dramatic story of what is happening as a "successful" suburban church decides to get serious about the gospel according to Jesus. Finally, he urges you to join in The Radical Experiment -- a one-year journey in authentic discipleship that will transform how you live in a world that desperately needs the Good News Jesus came to bring.

A short-term, 8 session study of the book of Psalms. The study focuses on the central themes of Psalms. Nearly every psalm is related to the fact that God is present in the world and is lovingly and purposefully involved in the lives of people. Four lessons explore how the people of God are called to praise God who creates and sustains, acts on behalf of God's people, delivers them from trouble, and knows and cares. Four responses to God's actions are suggested: trust in God, keep God's laws, repent and confess, and worship and witness. The Bible Readers Series is designed for adult study groups wishing to explore a particular book of the Bible for a limited number of sessions. It uses the NRSV translation.
This volume is a compelling invitation to meditate on the deeper meaning of the fourteen verses of Psalm 27. During the month of Elul and the High Holy Day and Festival season, we reflect on our relationships, choices, beliefs, and practices, considering where to make repairs, adjustments, and atonement. Opening Your Heart with Psalm 27 provides gentle guidance through this journey of reflection, offering heartfelt insight, profound translation, and an invaluable framework for meaningfully participating in this annual spiritual practice.
Are you hurting or suffering in silence? God has a purpose in your pain. Many people in general, and even Christians admittedly avoid the subject of pain almost as much as they avoid pain itself. But once you understand the purpose of pain, you can make the most of the painful experiences in life. In The Furnace of Affliction: How God Uses Our Pain and Suffering for His Purpose, Horace Williams, Jr. tackles this challenging topic. Based on the Word of God, insights from other leaders, and his studies, he addresses several key points, including: How pain develops our faith How pain determines our path How pain delivers comfort, joy, and peace And how pain deepens our commitment to God. Packed with personal stories and scripture to support his points, Horace shares his insights on the problem of pain. His candid and straightforward communication style engages the reader as he addresses this critical topic for the body of Christ today.
