The story concerns the staff only and the children will be heard in the background and referred to from time to time–but never seen! The National Curriculum and OFSTED are as yet but twinkles in a government mandarin’s eye!

Roger Fraser, the ever optimistic but perpetually put upon investment banking stock analyst-trouble shooter and occasional rugby player has more work and domestic issues to challenge his sensibilities. Grubb, age twelve (or thereabouts), has never known anything beyond his miserable existence as a chimney sweep, paid only in insults and abuse by his cruel master.
