The research activities have focussed on the VLSI array processor for signal processing theory and algorithms and the development of parallel computing architectures. A solution in today's VLSI research challenge lies in a cross-disciplinary research encompassing the areas of mathematics, algorithms, computers, and applications. To this end, this report summarizes two parallel major research tasks: (1) Signal processing algorithm and theory and (2) Parallel computing structures.
This is the only book that offers a thorough treatment of the following: design and application of programmable digital signal processors; formal specification and optimization of signal processing architectures and circuits; high-level synthesis of DSP architectures and datapaths; detailed treatment of application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs); scheduling, allocation and assignment algorithms for multiple processor DSP systems; and hardware/software co-design issues in DSP. VLSI Digital Signal Processors: An Introduction to Rapid Prototyping and Design Synthesis provides a cohesive, quantitative and clear exposition of the implementation and prototyping of digital signal processing algorithms on programmable signal processors, parallel processing systems and application-specific ICs. Included are both programmable and dedicated digital signal processors, and discussions of the latest optimization methods and the use of computer-aided-design techniques.
Papers presented at ASAP-94, held in August 1994. The conference serves as a forum for researchers from universities as well as industry who are interested in the fundamental aspects of application specific computing systems. Sessions are devoted to signal & image processing, CAD, case studies, meth
Papers, invited talks, and poster sessions from the July 1995 conference address problems and solutions in the field of parallel array algorithms and architectures for special-purpose systems. Topics include scheduling and mapping techniques, design methodologies, array architectures, computer arith
