It then describes the current state of the Atlantic salmon fishery (Aboriginal & recreational) and evaluates the status of the salmon resource in three rivers (Miramichi, Tabusintac, Buctouche) for 1998. These assessments include information on returns of small & large salmon, conservation requirements, and egg depositions. For each river, an outlook for the salmon stock is presented along with management considerations.
