Beardsley explores key details of 19th-century Anglican preacher F.W. Robertson's personal life and offers a fresh interpretation of his development and significance as a theologian, preacher, and writer.
A fervent millennial hope has often existed at the heart of Protestant evangelicalism. Varieties of eschatology have exercised a profound impact on the movementÕs theology and history. Although millennialism had a respected lineage within conservative Protestantism, it flourished with enormous energy in the early nineteenth century as evangelicals responded to the threat of the American and European revolutions and the cultural pessimism of the Romantic movement. By mid-century, the millennialism that had first been articulated for the defense of Protestant conservatism had paved the way for the subversion of historic theology and church practice, as a growing confidence in biblical inerrancy and the ÒliteralÓ hermeneutic challenged many of the historical assumptions of the evangelical faith. This volume of essays expands on neglected aspects of the impact of the evangelical millennialism in Britain and Ireland between 1800 and 1880, and includes an essay charting recent trends in the study of millennialism.

An Akathist (from the Greek Akthistos mnos, unseated hymn) is a devotional hymn to a saint, holy event, or one of the persons of the Holy Trinity, which is said in churches or by the faithful in private devotion. This volume contains thirty Akathists, including those to our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the Mother of God, as well as other Saints, including several Saints of the British Isles and North America.
Veneration of the Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ is a devotion as old as our Holy Faith. In "Glories of the Precious Blood," Fr. Max Walz powerfully revisits the seven times that Christ shed His Precious Blood, poignantly reminding us just how much Jesus and His Father love us. These pages readily inspire a devotion to the Precious Blood, and Fr. Walz lays out a number of ways readers can nurture this devotion: through praying the Rosary and chaplets dedicated to the Precious Blood, meditating on the Passion of Our Crucified Savior, and prayerfully dedicating each day of the week to one of the seven different times Christ shed His Blood. "Those who are oppressed by the memory of their sins, diffident about the efficacy of their prayers or doubtful about their salvation, should experience an awakening of confidence through devotion to the Precious Blood." - Fr Max Walz
