Paramjot Singh Chahel a science graduate percieved Law degree and completed PG diploma in Philosophy of Communal Harmony and Social Peace. He is currently doing a research work on the subject RELIGION AND PEACE from Yashwantrao University, Nasik. He is a retired senior judge (was deputed at the union territory Silvassa). He devoted himself in social work through a scoial organization Navjyot Foundation. Paramjyot Singh Chahel was deputed as a Judge in the Court of Civil Judge at Dadra and Nagar Haveli at Silvassa (India). The territory is rich in forest, river, animals, birds and impoverished Adivasi people. The territory has many Scheduled Tribes known as Dhodia, Kathodi, Koli, Naykada and Varli. He had an opportunity to decide the cases while hearing the argument from the members of the Bar Association, Silvassa. He felt the need of document on longstanding customs of these tribes. He collected several reference books and made research and it concluded in The Undisclosed Facts of Tribal Life. The book covered the trible life, the ceremonies of child- birth, language taught to child, engagement and marriage custom, pre-marital and extra marital sex relation, monogamy, polygamy, divorce culture and widow remarriage, status of GharJawai, ways of acquiring mates, food and drink, religion, God, Goddess, and vows to God, faith in medical profession etc.
According to the 2011 census, the population of ‘Kathodi’ tribe is 13,632 people. People of this tribe mostly live in Surat, Tapi, Dang, Narmada and Sabarkantha districts. They use herbs, fruits and roots as food. They hunt rabbits, deer, cocks and birds and use them for food. They were engaged in the profession of collecting catechu from its trees, so the tribe is known as ‘Kathodi’ tribe. In this modern time, machinery and factories are established to prepare catechu, so the old profession of preparing catechu by this tribe is stopped. Nowadays, people of this tribe have started farming works andWork of collecting forest products. To uplift the people of this tribe, various departments have tried by providing opportunities of self-employment and home industries. Literacy rate of this tribe is 23.54%. Irrespective of the influence of modernisation, urbanisation, industrialization and overall development in tribal areas there are still certain communities which are extremely backward. such tribal communities have been identified as primitive tribes. Kathodi is one of them.. This study belongs to Kathodi tribes. Such studies are very rare in Gujarat state.. The present research study is exploring nature study of the living conditions and social-economical positions of Kathodi tribes as an especially primitive community in Vijaynagar Taluka in Sabarkantha district which is located in Gujarat state. The study systematically presents the impacts of development schemes on the socio-economic conditions of Kathodi. It also throws adequate light on the problems associated with schemes both at the level of beneficiaries as well as at the promoters level too. . .
Before South Sudan got it independence, Sudan was at civil wars for two centuries. The first civil war started in 1955 and ended in 1972 in an Agreement signed in Addis Ababa. After Bor and Ayod wars was over, the SPLM/A was formed with the two different ideologies “separation” and “secular united Sudan”. The separatist and unionist ideology was the cause of the split and the death of many founding fathers of the nation SPLM/A. In 1997, the split groups signed the agreement known as Khartoum Agreement with regime in Khartoum. In 2002 the SPLM/A and some of the split groups re-joined once again and unify their forces with Garang’s forces, until Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) signed in Nairobi- Kenya in 2005 After CPA, the Transitional Government of National Unity was formed in Sudan and the rights of self-determination were exercised and the 99.9% vote for separation leading to the declaration of independence of the South Sudan on 9 July 2011. After 2 years from independence the war within SPLM (Kiir and Riek) broke out in Juba where thousands killed. Due to some reservations from the Kiir and Machar dogfight erupted in J1 in 2016 until 2018 Revitalise Agreement signed.
