Teens live in a time of lightning-fast change..but the spiritual disciplines that equip them to thrive in a culture addicted to speed haven't changed one bit. Daily communication with God (also known as prayer) and time spent in His Word are an unbeatable recipe for steady growth in erratic, unpredictable times. Prayer and the Devotional Life, the newest addition to the Uncommon youth curriculum series created by youth ministry veteran Jim Burns, helps to introduce these essential disciplines. Twelve sessions of youth-friendly Bible study will get your teens thinking and talking about the importance of spiritual practices, and guide them to make praying and Bible study part of their daily diet! Inside the book you'll find a special download link for additional reproducible student handouts and options for every session to tailor each study to your group's unique needs.
In recent years, movie goers have been taken back to the beginnings of nearly every modern action hero - Batman, Spider-Man, James Bond and Iron Man (and company), just to name a few. Our fascination with these heroes' origins are a reflection of our longing to know where we came from and why we are the way we are. With The Old Testament, you can share with teens their own origin story and help them make sense of their world and themselves. These 12 sessions of youth-friendly Bible study will introduce your students to the God who keeps His promises, works miracles and forgives His people when they make terrible choices, and help them understand the physical and spiritual history of our human family. And when they meet Adam and Eve, Samuel, Job, Esther, Daniel and many more biblical characters, your students will get to know the real heroes of the faith. Downloads for reproducible student handouts for every session are available.
This comprehensive resource guides leaders through all the stages of planning camps and retreats - theme development, scheduling, gathering materials, setup and so on - and even offers sample lessons and activities. Twelve complete outlines are included (plus a bonus staff retreat outline!) and all student handouts are available for download. Everything youth leaders need to invite their group to meet with God... all in one book!

A fresh look at the influential pedagogy and practice pioneered by the Bauhaus Founded by architect Walter Gropius (1883-1969) in 1919, the Bauhaus was the 20th century's most influential school of art, architecture, and design. After the school was shuttered under pressure from the Nazis in 1933, many Bauhaus artists brought their innovative practices and teaching methods to the United States. Gropius himself accepted a position at Harvard, where he would help establish a collection of Bauhaus material that has since grown to more than 30,000 objects--the largest such collection outside Germany. Harvard in turn became an unofficial center for the Bauhaus in America. Written by established and emerging voices in the field, the scholarship presented here expands on the special link between the two institutions, while highlighting understudied aspects of the Bauhaus, such as weaving, photography, and art made by women. Accompanied by beautiful illustrations--some of never-before-published objects--this book yields fascinating insights for Bauhaus devotees and design aficionados.
