I’ve made the magickal discovery of the century ... if I survive to tell the Unseen world about it. The truth behind human myths of Atlantis, the Magi of the Mists lived on a remote island off California. They were more advanced than the Romans, more in tune with the Great Mother than the Druids. Then a thousand years ago, they vanished. Until I found them. Five men stand in the way of me announcing my triumph: my ex-boyfriend who is claiming credit for my discovery, the jackalwere who wants to pervert my find to save his people, my new boyfriend whose secrets could undo everything I’ve worked for, and my fated, fae mates. When the scourge that destroyed the Magi of the Mists begins stalking the ivory towers of my alma mater, I have to find a way to stop it. Even if it means sacrificing my career. Even if it means relying on the men who have betrayed me. Even if it means embracing my Unseelie blood and claiming my crown. A poignant story of faith, family, and country that reveals the courage it takes to try, succeed, and live to tell about life's often-improbable journey. --Linda Lingle Governor of Hawaii (2002-2010) The inspirational story of a young girl's journey from the family farm to a seat at the table with the most powerful civilian and military men in the world. Raised on the family farm in Central Minnesota, Denise Jelinski-Hall attended a one-room country school through the fifth grade and never dreamed of opportunities beyond her rural community. After graduating from high school, she took an assembly-line job as a seamstress, then became a teller at the local bank. One day, a chance observation by a member of the Minnesota Army National Guard changed her life forever: "I see so much more potential in you, Denise. Why don't you join the Air Force and get out of this town?" Over the next three decades, Denise rose through the ranks, ultimately serving as the first woman to be the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the chief of the National Bureau, a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS). In this position, she became the first woman to serve as a Senior Enlisted Advisor to a member of the JCS--the highest position ever achieved by an enlisted woman in the history of the US military. Denise's memoir demonstrates what one person can achieve with a strong work ethic and a desire to serve. It is a timeless American story of success, determination, perseverance, and faith. This story is an inspiration to those in the military. Denise is a role model for leadership in the corporate world and an example of achievement to those looking for self-improvement. --Sergeant Major of the Army Kenneth O. The extensive scope of this collection means that this documentary record of the reception of German literature in England is a valuable scholarly resource. One of the most important features of British literary and intellectual history over the past 250 years is the influence of German literature. From the second half of the 18th Century, through the first decades of the 19th, German books and ideas attracted, then gained the attention of a nation. Despite the acknowledged importance of the influence on writers such as Coleridge and Carlyle the subject, though often alluded to, was rarely studied. This collection provides a guidebook through the masses of periodical and allows the English side of the Anglo-German literary relationship to be explored in detail. In order to make the collection useful to scholars with a wide range of interest, it has been divided into three parts: Part 1 is a chronological presentation of commentary on German literature in general. It also contains collective reviews of multiple German authors, notices of important anthologies and reactions to influential works about Germany and its culture. Part 2 collects reviews of 18th Century individual German authors and Part 3 is devoted to the English reception of Goethe and Schiller. Parts 2 & 3 contain cross-references to the collective reviews of Part 1. Containing over 200 British serials and articles and reviews from all the major English literary periodicals, the collection also includes a broad sampling of opinion from the more general magazines, including some popular religious publications.
