Albert Torrence (d.1775), Hugh Torrance (1701-1784), and James Torrance were three sons of Sgt. Hugh Terence of Ireland (with Scottish lineage). Albert immigrated to Philadelphia, and settled in the Conocoheague Settlement in Franklin County, Pennsylvania by 1751. Hugh immigrated to Hopewell Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania and served in the Revolutionary War. James, the third son, remained in Ireland. Descendants and relatives lived in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Ohio, Missouri and elsewhere. Some descendants immigrated from Scotland or England to Quebec, Manitoba and elsewhere in Canada. Includes ancestors in Scotland, Ireland and elsewhere.
This family history includes the ancestry and descendants of both Roy Ladd (1879-1966) and Mattie Cole Ladd (1886-1944) who were married in 1904. The first section of this book includes the descendants of the earliest known Ladd ancestor, James Ladd (ca. 1782-1827). The second section begins with the earliest known Cole ancestor, Coverdale Cole (ca. 1750-1831). Descendants and relatives lived in West Virginia, North Dakota, Minnesota, Missouri, Kentucky, Ohio, California, and elsewhere.

John Urquhart (1802-1849) was believed to have been born in Cumber- land Co., N.C., and died in Talbot or Marion Co., Georgia. He was married (1) ca. 1830 in Butts Co., Ga. to a widow, Ruth Mitchel Rhodes (1786-1835). She had seven children with her first husband William Rhodes. She and John Urquhart had no children. He married (2) 1837 in Talbot Co., Ga. Euphemia Parker (1813-1877), the daughter of Stephen W. Parker and Elizabeth Ridley. They were parents of three children: William Henry (1838-1864); Maryan Eliza- beth (1840-1844); and Amanda M. (1850-1926).
The progenitors of the Stewart family and of the three allied families of Isom, Guess, and Wilson are: Leroy W. Stewart (1792-ca. 1865), Charles Isom (1775-1855), Henry Guess (1764-1825), and John Wilson (1730-1800).
