Doctor David Cooper is studying birds in a Mexican rainforest when he collects a Collared Trogon, a species of bird that is rare in that region. The bird falls between the buttress roots of a large tree. As David reaches down to pick it up, he cuts his hand on a sharp object imbedded in a root. With the help of his camp assistant, he digs the object out and finds that it is a shiny metal cube. Back at camp, he discovers that the weight of the cube is ten times that of an equivalent volume of uranium, the heaviest known stable metal. He calls a professor friend and is directed to a specialist in Fort Collins, Colorado. In Colorado, David comes under the protection of Rocky Mountain Investigations, under an FBI contract. But things go dramatically off course when the specialist is suddenly murdered and the cube stolen. With the help of two of RMI's investigators, David learns the probable location of his cube and pursues it, running afoul of a Mexican crime boss and nearly losing his life in the process. Trogon: The Awakening, takes place a long time long ago in the Tryphenian Empire where Emperor Khabah XXIII is fighting a rebel group on his northern borders led by the wily rebel leader Turabath. The Emperor is also desperately in need new land for his ever-growing population and as a dumping ground for his over crowded prisons. Palento Island a former province of the Empire is home to three communities. The Highlanders to the north, the Lowlanders to the south and the Trogons who remain out of sight in the great western caves. Trogons have unique telepathic and fighting skills as well as the ability to move rapidly without being seen. Because of a previous betrayal by the Islanders they do not become involved in Island affairs unless there is a grave threat to the Island or themselves but they continue to conduct regular patrols of the Island to watch for invaders. Palento is eventually invaded and the Island warriors prove no match for the well-trained legionnaires. The Islanders have limited means to defend themselves and are greatly outnumbered and ill equipped to fight the well-trained legionnaires. Sacha and the Trogon warriors plan a surprise for the invading forces but not without some close encounters and a few dangerous setbacks.
How do you come up with the idea to list all the birds in the world including the subspecies and to give all birds English names? There is a reason for it - my favorite saying, whose author is unknown: "Everyone said that ́s not possible - then there was one who did not know that and just did it!" I am an animal photographer and probably a little bit crazy. Ive built a complete animal database for mammals and birds over the last decade. This facilitates my work in determining and archiving images and assigning keywords, especially among the many subspecies. With this book, I would like to give all birding friends and ornithologists a complete overview in English. For this I have given unique English names to all subspecies. The naming should not meet any scientific requirements. The names are based on translations from the Latin name, geographical distribution areas and the names of the discoverers. The entries consist of the scientific name, the English name, the distribution areas and the author.
