Excerpt from A Treatise on the Law of Surveying and Boundaries The work sets forth the laws pertaining to surveying and boundaries and discusses the problems arising in the surveying and legal professions with reference to the location and settle ment of boundaries. It furnishes the surveyor and attorney a ready reference to the acts of Congress providing for a survey of the public lands; the Instructions of the surveyor-general to his deputies in executing public surveys; the suggestions to private surveyors sent out by the Commissioner of the General Land Office from time to time pertaining to the subdivisions of sections and the restoration of lost or obliterated corners; and the decis ions handed down by the courts pertaining to the various phases of the subject of the work. Of special interest is the chapter pertaining to riparian rights and the division of accretion among the several riparian owners. That chapter deals at length with all those riparian rights with which the surveyor and attorney are constantly coming in contact. Numbers of lakes in some of the western states are constantly drying up and the waters receding. Questions pertaining to the.
