In the rapidly evolving landscape of Education 5.0, educators and institutions grapple with unprecedented challenges in leveraging digital technologies to enhance teaching, learning, and assessment. The profound shift towards a more humanized educational experience, focusing on social and emotional growth alongside skill development, demands a paradigmatic transformation. However, a palpable gap exists in understanding and navigating the complexities of this digital transition. Educators, students, and administrators are left facing dilemmas related to pedagogical innovation, technology integration, and effective learning assessment in the digital age. Enter Teaching and Assessment in the Era of Education 5.0, a definitive guide poised to bridge the gap between the challenges posed by Education 5.0 and actionable solutions. The current educational milieu faces a conundrum as it attempts to adapt to the tenets of Education 5.0. The digital transition poses challenges, from incorporating immersive technologies to understanding the attitudes of educators and students towards digitization. Furthermore, the design and implementation of training and distance learning systems require a nuanced approach, calling for engineering expertise in training, pedagogy, and tutoring. The assessment landscape, crucial for gauging the effectiveness of learning in the digital era, grapples with contemporary trends, ethical considerations, and the ever-present specter of plagiarism. This multifaceted challenge necessitates a comprehensive resource that not only delineates the issues but offers actionable solutions to navigate this transformative journey.
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 8th International Workshop on Learning Technology for Education Challenges, LTEC 2019, held in Zamora, Spain, in July 2019. The 41 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 83 submissions. The papers are organized in the following topical sections: learning technolgies; learning tools and environment; e-learning and MOOCs; learning practices; social media learning tools; machine learning and evaluation support programs. LTEC 2019 examines how these technologies and pedagogical advances can be used to change the way teachers teach and students learn, while giving special emphasis to the pedagogically effective ways we can harness these new technologies in education.
This book constitutes the thoroughly refereed post-conference proceedings of the First International Conference on Technology and Innovation in Learning, Teaching and Education, TECH-EDU 2018, held in Thessaloniki, Greece, on June 20-22, 2018. The 30 revised full papers along with 18 short papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 80 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on new technologies and teaching approaches to promote the strategies of self and co-regulation learning (new-TECH to SCRL); eLearning 2.0: trends, challenges and innovative perspectives; building critical thinking in higher education: meeting the challenge; digital tools in S and T learning; exploratory potentialities of emerging technologies in education; learning technologies; digital technologies and instructional design; big data in education and learning analytics.
The aim of this handbook is to present an overview of the work on learning, written by leading scholars from all these different perspectives and disciplines.
The relationship between adult education research and theory is one of tension. On the one hand, there are several empirical studies carried out without any theoretical guidance. On the other hand, there is theorizing and theory building taking place without any empirical support. Social Science Theories in Adult Education Research, the third volume of the Bochum Studies in International Adult Education series, pleads for the importance of the combination of empirical and theoretical work in a symbiotic way. Good empirical studies need theoretical guidance and good theory building needs a solid empirical basis; thus the book explores and displays the most often used theories and theoretical perspectives in adult education research in the last decade within the European discourse and analyzes their potentials for adult education research. The chapters presented in this volume have a more or less similar underlying structure. They display the most important contours of the theory or perspective in question; they analyze and discuss the relation to adult education research, focusing on examples of other researcher's work; and they give an outlook on what can be expected of the respective paradigm's in the future.
Professionalization has become a given in the worlds of work and education. For a wide variety of professions, public and private organizations and training and further education courses, professionalization is an inescapable reality. However, it takes on diverse, even contradictory meanings, according to what it represents: a managerial imperative imposed by public or managerial policies, or a set of goals defined by an ideal of service or quality of work. The purpose of Encyclopedia of Professionalization is to discuss the current challenges facing professionalization and, by exploring major research traditions, to clarify the meanings associated with this concept and the various phenomena it encompasses. Three major notions of professionalization are examined: the manufacturing of professions in pursuit of autonomy, the rise of professionalisms embodying notions of a job well done, and the construction of renewed professionalities at the very heart of work situations and training systems.
For two centuries, the school system has been a central point around which other players have gravitated: local authorities, voluntary organizations and the world of work. Over the course of the 20th century, this school centric configuration underwent a transformation, with local authorities tending to become integrated into the vertical culture of the school system. This was only the beginning of a process that brought schools and socio cultural players into constant contact. Cultural, Training and Educational Spaces first examines the relationships with knowledge generated by the links between the school system and other cultural, training and educational spaces, taking a historical, pedagogical and philosophical perspective. Easy access to learning materials creates different relationships with knowledge than those observed in schools. The book then looks at the pedagogical practices in these different cultural educational spaces, such as libraries and media libraries, museums and historical sites, places of heritage, history and entertainment, social networks and other multimedia formats.
This annotated bibliography on women and vocational training was compiled through a search of the database on vocational training in the European Community and its member states. Key words used in the search were "woman,""equality," and "vocational training." The database contains references to books, periodical articles, legislation, and other published material, selected either by CEDEFOP (European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training) or by the members of the Documentary Information Network. The 465 items listed in this bibliography were published between 1985 and 1990. They are organized into the following categories: (1) the 12 community countries (Belgium, Denmark, France, Federal Republic of Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, and the United Kingdom; (2) European Economic Community and CEDEFOP; (3) the United States and other countries; and (4) the International Labour Office and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development. Each entry contains information on author, type of publication, title, publisher, city of publication, date, number of pages, index terms (key words), and an abstract. All keywords are in English; however, many of the abstracts are in French and/or German only. (KC)
