This report is intended as an analysis of the situation of working children in Namibia based on the Namibia Child Activities Survey (NCAS) and a wide range of qualitative research. Documentation was reviewed to determined what are the existing laws that relate to child labour, what activities and programmes in Namibia are aimed at the elimination of the worst forms of child labour, what is the current socio-economic situation with regard to child labour in Namibia, What are the circumstances in which children are most likely to be found working, and to acquire a comprehensive Bibliography of reference materials relating to child labour in Namibia.
This book provides an overview of the current state of knowledge on hazardous child labor, relating the negative and the positive, the problems, and the solutions. The first section samples research on what is known about how children are uniquely affected by workplace hazards and in what settings children are working in hazardous conditions. The second part of the book presents good practices that demonstrate different ways in which hazardous work can be reduced. It explores what can happen when leadership is taken by government, workers, employers, and the community. It also demonstrates that no one party can achieve the result on its own; ultimately, others must support, assist, and do their part. The examples selected here are practical ones that show promise for scaling up nationally and globally.

This General Survey, which deals with all eight fundamental Conventions, seeks to give a global picture of the law and practice in member States in terms of the practical application of ratified and non-ratified Conventions, describing the various positive initiatives undertaken in some countries, in addition to certain serious problems encountered in the implementation of their provisions. The General Survey recognizes the interdependence and complementarity between these Conventions and their universal applicability, while bearing in mind the specificities covered by each Convention. The General Survey also highlights the main considerations elaborated by the Committee of Experts, as well as its corresponding guidance in order to achieve fuller conformity with the fundamental Conventions.
