Excerpt from Eleventh Biennial Report of the State Board of Education of the State of Michigan: From January 1, 1901, to December 31, 1902, and Treasurer's Report From June 30, 1900, to June 30, 1902 Gentlemen: Assuming the presidency of the Michigan State Normal College as I did September 1, 1902, I am somewhat embarrassed in the making up of a report of the institution covering the two years preceding my coming to the state. Little more will be attempted, therefore, in this paper than to state the facts which it seems necessary for the State Board of Education to place before the legislature. When I have become a little more thoroughly conversant with the educational situation in Michigan and with the details of the position which I occupy, it will be my pleasure to make a much more detailed statement of the conditions and needs of the State Normal College. There is every indication, from the situation as I find it here now, that the work of the college has prospered greatly within the two years since a report was made to the legislature.
