Life in India has changed beyond recognition in the last seventy years, and I am making an effort at preserving the memory of a lost past for my grandchildren and their yet to come progeny, to relive some of the jungle stories and memories. We find the author considers himself an ordinary pebble amoung others of his time,who has gone on a desperate search for love and approval. But even an ordinary pebbles like him can have an extraordinary life, because he is not ordinary from the start finding at an early age confusion and embarrassment regarding whether an accident or his mind makes him that way. It ́s not until into his young adult stream does he discover another reason for his rebel behavior in school and life. Which as a reader, you ́ll recognized some problems in the text of the book cover and in the book ́s writen words or spelling or sentance structure being a struggle. You ́ll see it ́s not his schooling, it ́s his battle with being dyslexic. Yet there is some great writing and inspiration, plus the help of a few photos, to bring you into his or your memories and times when some myths emerged from stories and some being real truths. Pebbles we all are, truths are maybe what we think they should be, and myths are longer lasting then we may know. The author finds himself slowly aware of being in his September years, having a sense of belonging to the past and present, but a much shorter future. With that comes a sense of family, and the closeness of friends, which has brought him to this place of wonderment that has continued from those wonderful years of youth. They have brought him to these joyous thoughts while writing these memoirs, and making reflecting on his extraordinary life. There is a expression of views from his heart and mind trying to embrace so much of that extraordinary life that lies hidden deeper within his self, and yet always trying to hold and consider that these are parts of his life, whether shinning with beauty or happiness or sadness, finding only to be viewed as an expression of soul. He has tried painting, but now the writen word, in expressing some of those myths, spoken truths found within the soul, and trusted memories. They carry simple but complex myths in the life of an ordinary pebble, always amazed by the course of the streams found. As I look back, I am happy that I have lived for so long. It is a happiness shared by many: family members, friends and colleagues. Cephas Msipas memoirs take us back to his birth in Zvishavane in 1931, and they reflect a life dedicated to the welfare of others and the development of his country. Following secondary education at Dadaya Mission, he worked as a teacher in Zvishavane and Kwekwe, where he was active in the Rhodesian African Teachers Association, before moving to Harare in 1958. It was a time of rising nationalism in the capital, and following the banning of the African National Congresss and its successor, the National Democratic Party, Msipa was a founding member of ZAPU, the Zimbabwean African Peoples Union. Thus began an engagement with national politics that would last until he was in his late seventies, furthering his education as a political detainee and, after independence had been won, serving as a deputy minister, minister and provincial governor. The narrative of his life follows the arc of Zimbabwes history, and embraces the people and events that have shaped it. S. G. Neginhal IFS (Retd) commenced his forestry service in 1951. He also underwent specialized wildlife training at the FRI Dehradun during 1971-72. He drafted the first management plan for Project Tiger, which was ushered in 1973 at Bandipur. He discovered Kokkarebellur Pelicanry in 1974. He came into close contact with national luminaries like ornithologist Salim Ali, and renowned wildlife and nature photographer M Krishnan and others. He got declared Biligirirangan Hills as a Sanctuary in 1974 and created a new Sanctuary for Wolves at Melkote. He administered most of the wildlife sanctuaries of Karnataka from 1972 to 1980 and kept visiting them to study wild animals and birds even after his superannuation. He was responsible for the massive greening of the Bengaluru metropolis from 1982- 87 by planting 15-lakh saplings. He was a pioneer in introducing Urban Forestry. For his successful planting of trees in Bengaluru city, a national award, the Indira Vriksha Priyadarshini Award, was given to the Forest Department in 1988. Planting of trees in all the cities of India was later included in the country’s five-year plans. From Bengaluru nurseries, a thousand tall saplings were also sent to New Delhi for planting at the Shakti Sthal, the Samadhi of late Indira Gandhi.
