Most people wonder if Tambolia exists. It might be better to think - given all the time the universe has had to establish something like a Galactic Library, why wouldn’t it exist? Of course, access is the key and the most challenging part. The Galactic Library has two initial conditions: one is the Mark of Emptiness; the other is Self-Secret. Once you understand these conditions, you can enter this library. Misha and his grandson, Shilo, figure out how to get to Tambolia, a Galactic Library, by asking the question, where do people go when they figure it out? The solution is Tambolia. The problem they discover is: why is the patriarchal model, which we are suffering from, so invested with the ignorance of their own ignorance?
“Rufin offers his readers a return . . . to a time when the wildest dreamer could be a wealthy merchant—Jacques Coeur, the treasurer poet” (Les Echos). After a brilliant career as a trader, Jacques Coeur was summoned to the court of Charles VII and appointed Master of the Mint in 1436. He rose to become the King of France’s visionary First Banker who, with his tours of the Far East, his opposition to the crusades, and his efforts to develop trade, brought France out of the darkness toward the Renaissance and modernity. At the height of his success, his ill-considered infatuation with Agnès Sorel, King Charles VII’s favorite mistress, precipitated Coeur’s fall from grace. In Rufin’s delectable prose this true story becomes a gripping tale of adventure, a novel of ideas, and a moving love story. “The Dream Maker blends with skill and efficiency politics, business, travel and love. All of this written in a classic, elegant prose, of which Jean-Christophe Rufin has long had a command.” —Le JDD “Rufin bestows such immediacy to this artist of finance, such vitality that we hear the sound of Coeur’s own voice telling us his life.” —Télérama “Rufin has re-established his eloquence and spirit, that of the great novelist of the people. . . . His new novel is both a chivalric odyssey and a brilliant reflection on power.” —Lire “The vivid portraits of Charles VII and Agnès Sorel give readers an intimate glimpse into court intrigue in 15th-century France.” —Washington Independent Review of Books “A fascinating novel.” —Historical Novel Society
Kellen’s mother has always insisted that her only child was born male, not female—so Kellen has been raised as a boy. At school, she meets Gryffin, whose mind is as strong as his legs are damaged, and the two become friends and allies. A few years later, the two get jobs working at an inn nearby. When it is discovered that Gryffin is the kingdom’s new Dream-Maker—someone whose mere presence can help dreams come true—he is whisked away to the castle, leaving Kellen behind. By now, their friendship is shading into something more. Will it endure?
This is book 2 of the Tambolian Paradox book series.
The current delusions we are suffering from established that figuring out something has consequences, figuring out something that is obvious is socially and culturally dangerous, and figuring out something essential to the human condition is suicidal... meditational insights are answers, but no one likes them.
The tops of the Pillars are the bottom of everything else is a mystical insight known only in Tambolia. What is at the beginning? This is one of the questions Mystic Pilgrims have to answer at some point along the way. After the beginning, the rules change.
A Pan Galactic migration is adopted by the Wynyard Institute, Tambolia, and the Blue people using a hunter-gatherer approach, equipping a small number of people with lots of durable tools and then leaving. The public excuse for the Horizon Project is to explore the Milky Way Galaxy. The actual reason is to discover why the universe actually exists and why we might need to know that.
The series was inspired by Abuelita, who believed that dreams represent our future, and by my father, who has given me the tools to be successful in life. Growing up he always talked to me about his ancestors and showed with his words how proud he was of his roots. However, so much was slowly disappearing behind the veil of memory, although he was always very eager to learn about his past. Thus, I made it a mission, for the last two years, to find out as much as possible of my ancestors. I didnt have any time frame or limits in mind; I went years, decades, centuries and even millennia back in time, to learn where I come from. With the imagination inspired by Abuelita and remembering her dream interpretations, I took myself into an extraordinary journey with my family. The voyage was truly created by real life events in combination with my dream.
