In this Change Treasure, Pro. Dr. Kemba Jarena Lucas, Founder and Chief Visionary Officer of Daughters of Destiny International, admonishes women to learn the wisdom teaching of the "Parable of the Traveling Suitcase" imparted into her wisdom well by Mother Grace Silva. Each is encouraged to acknowledge all her suitcase reveals concerning her -- her best and worst selves -- as she fulfills her divine destiny. You, the destined traveler in pursuit of spiritual and moral maturity, are admonished to couple her "Tale of Jubah" and the scriptural "Tale of Joed" with your divine instructions. Her candor will lead you to remain obedient and accountable to God, so you are empowered to manifest agape -- divine love that manifests when the best and worst of another is revealed -- in the presence of hardheads and blockheads. Each is rooted in God's Word, Will and Way to minister "grudge free" within the holy dwelling of God's Will. It will change your divine travel-life for eternity!

This rich and multifaceted collection is Grace Paley's vivid record of her life. As close to an autobiography as anything we are likely to have from this quintessentially American writer, Just As I Thought gives us a chance to see Paley not only as a writer and "troublemaker" but also as a daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother. Through her descriptions of her childhood in the Bronx and her experiences as an antiwar activist to her lectures on writing and her recollections of other writers, these pieces are always alive with Paley's inimitable voice, humor, and wisdom.

Over the last couple of decades there has been a strong academic interest in how individuals interact with each other while en route. Yet, even if various studies have informed us about present-day realities of travel companionships, we know little about the influence of gender both on these realities, as well as on the discourse in which these are being narrated. This book aims to establish an agenda for the study of companionship in travel writing by offering a collection of new essays which study texts that belong to the broad category of pre-modern and modern travel literature. Chapters explore the differences and similarities in the ways that women and men in the past chose to describe their experiences with, and/or their ideas about companionship, and specifically reveals the influence of gender norms, conventions, restrictions, and stereotypes. This is the first book which looks at the long-term, interdisciplinary, and genuinely international history of gendered discourses on companionship in travel writing. It will be of interest to scholars and students from a wide variety of disciplines, including cultural and social history, as well as cultural, literary, gender, travel, and tourism studies.
