Y Monte's town Shed tears of sorrow when he left one evening to come to Cornell in order to absorb what little more knowledge he might need. He prepared for college at the Toledo High School, and since leaving there in 1902 has been taking some courses in mechanical engi neering in the University. He used to paddle a little canoe on Lake Huron, and, while here, has become so proficient that the crews could not do without him. Monte can tell you how they do it in Sibley without the least trouble. While he is best known for his sedate behavior he occasionally unbends and plays a few pranks. Punkin (for this was his original nick name) is quite a hunter, but unfortunately his fame has spread so far that all the game keeps in hiding when he hits the trail.
