This book is a daring and no-holds-barred description of the false teachings and dangerous trends that have sent much of the Nigerian Church off course over the past four decades. Gary Maxey is joined by Peter Ozodo in describing four major threats to Christian orthodoxy that are threatening the orthodoxy of Nigerian Christianity. The first is the unbalanced Prosperity Gospel that is shown to be an import from the scripturally unbalanced American Word of Faith movement. The second is the revival of African Traditional Religion within the Church. The third threat is a subtle redefining of Christian spirituality, moving away from sound foundations in biblical morality. The fourth threat is the contemporary Hyper Grace movement, found in the teachings of Singapore's Joseph Prince and a host of American imitators. All four of these threats have become deeply entrenched in various sectors of the Nigerian Church. With a powerful Introduction by Gbile Akanni, this book is a must-read by every Nigerian pastor, as well as discerning lay people. Maxey and Ozodo not only point out the problems but they point to clear solutions. Their conviction is that before we can expect a national spiritual revival in Nigeria we must first see a clear reformation in which these and other errors are clearly dealt with.
The explosion of the church in Nigeria is phenomenal, with a forward momentum that is as remarkable as the missionary optimism of the first century Church. The history reveals a tightly woven narrative of the process of beginnings, growth, and change. The Transformation of African Christianity is a systematic ecclesiological reflection on the extent to which the understanding and practice of ‘church’ have changed during one and a half centuries of Christianity in Nigeria. This provides pastors and practitioners with an interpretive framework for a contextual yet biblical way of doing church as Nigeria moves into the future. It will also give the theorist a missiological and theological compass to guide the work of theorizing and provide symmetry of understanding and interpretation in the ongoing appraisal of non-Western and global Christianity.
Ever so often a book comes along that I feel should have been written years ago, and this book is one of them. As a Christian who found faith in Nigeria in the 80s, I was intrigued by stories about 'God Generals", those men and women that led 20th century revivals across the world (most of them in the West). Now I have in my hands, a book that shares some of the stories of some of my fellow countrymen who shaped the faith landscape in Nigeria. I am really impressed with the diversity of the leaders identified and the depth of the research undertaken. This book, in my view, should be a must read for anyone interested in origins of Pentecostalism in Nigeria. Keno Ogbo, Co-editor, The Black Church in the 21st Century "The Lord joined us to the ministry of Benson Idahosa for 20 years and we saw firsthand the reality and power of the gospel in Africa that has touched the world. The Lord's sovereign work in the continent is going to impact the globe for generations to come. Thank God for the African church of Jesus Christ. Millions of strong and faithful believers are coming forth at this critical time as God builds His church." Dr Kent & Ruth Hodge, President of Christian Faith Institute, Jos, Nigeria. Christianity has been recognised to be a growing religion in Sub Sahara Africa. The expression of Christianity that is expanding in Africa is Pentecostalism. One reason for this growth is the renewal factor which has engulfed the whole continent. Nigeria is one of the countries that has and is still experiencing revival that is contributing to local and global Christianity. What is the origin of Pentecostalism in Nigeria? What contributions did the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa make to the Pentecostal scene in Africa? Why is RCCG one of the fastest growing Churches in the World? This book considers the history of Pentecostalism in Nigeria by looking at the pioneering efforts of men and women who laid the foundation of the Movement.
This book discusses the causes of denominational separations, the varieties of denominations, syncretism of the sectarians, indigenization, & problems of sects.
This is a prophetic action book on the Nigerian Church and how it impacts the nations of the world. This particular series covers the period between 1993 to end 2016, cutting across the length and breadth of Nigeria. The searchlight touches on Churchs, Politicians, Government, ethnic groups, Islam, Boko Haram ravaging the country, corruption and occult influence and control over the territory of Nigeria. It gives vivid account of the happening here in the na- tion of Nigeria and how it will impact events from around the world propheti- cally including United States of America, Great Britain, Asia and other parts of Africa as the days dawn. One of my spiritual sons made a remark the other day that highlighted the agonies in God's heart about the current climate of the Nigerian Church. He said " The world is better than the Church". He works as an administrative staff in a church and had seen the ways of the clergy in his place of work. A few days later, I was discussing about the prayer pattern of the Nigerian church with a young pastor friend of mine. I told him that God is not happy with it because it negates His desire for the body of Christ in the nation. The pastor said "Any pastor who does not lead prayers in that pattern will have very few or no mem- bers in his church". It was revealed to me on 20th October 1994, while praying in England that God wants to use Nigeria in the nations in this End-time before Jesus comes. Prior to this, in 1993, God had led me to scatter physically a church in North- central zone of Nigeria and to tell the occultic pastor that he would lose every- thing he was doing and end up in hell. He later sent someone to thank me for what I did. As a follow up to the revelation I received in 1994, God led me in 2001 to go to Lokoja to pray for Nigeria at the confluence of the two rivers that traverses the country. It was while praying in room 12 at Confluence Motel Adankolo junction in Lokoja that He gave me the second name of the ministry The Jury Ministry and He told me to use it to kill and destroy what He has not allowed in the church and the nations. Jer.1:10. Between that 2001 and 2006, I have been led by God

I have been led to write Spiritual profiles of some countries of various continents of the world. Europe, Middle East, Asia and North-America. I have also done a zone by zone Spiritual profile of Nigeria and also written some Newsletters under a general caption-'His Word for Now' in which I highlighted areas where true Christians should check their spiritual standing and their preparedness to carry the gospel to the nations starting from our environment.
