REVIEW OF THE SCOLE EXPERIMENT IN 'TIME OUT': Is there life after death? Reading this remarkable book may convince even the most hardened sceptic, with its apparently solid scientific evidence for our continuing survival once we have shuffled off this mortal coil. What distinguishes the experiments chronicled here from other attempts to 'prove' that there is an afterlife are the rigorous protocols under which they were carried out. With chance, coincidence and connivance carefully eliminated, spectacular results were still achieved: handwriting, hieroglyphs and messages appearing on factory-sealed film, coins materialising, and lights dancing in front of impartial observers. Written in a calm, precise and dispassionate style, the book comes in advance of 'The Scole Report', which will shortly be published as an official Proceedings of the Society for Psychical Research - SPR. -- Time Out, October 1999
This edition is the reprint of the original report published in 1999 in the Proceedings of the Society of Psychical Research. In 1994 the development of psychic phenomena in Robin Foy's Group at the Scole Farmhouse came to the attention of the Society of Psychical Research. This report is the outcome of a two year investigation of the Group. It was conducted principally by three senior members of the Society for Psychical Research - the authors of this report. The authors' diverse professional backgrounds together with their many years of investigation of paranormal phenomena and the fact that most of the events described were experienced or witnessed simultaneously by at least three seasoned investigators improves the probability of authenticity. In the course of over 20 sittings, from 1995 to 1997, the investigators, together with other occasional researchers/sitters, witnessed a wide range of phenomena and were unable to detect any direct indication of fraud or deception. They encountered evidence favouring the hypothesis of intelligent forces able to influence material objects, and to convey associated meaningful messages, both visual and aural.
An esteemed scientist's personal journey from skepticism to wonder and awe provides astonishing answers to a timeless question: Is there life after death? Are love and life eternal? This exciting account presents provocative evidence that could upset everything that science has ever taught. Daring to risk his worldwide academic reputation, Dr. Gary E. Schwartz, along with his research partner Dr. Linda Russek, asked some of the most prominent mediums in America -- including John Edward, Suzane Northrup, and George Anderson -- to become part of a series of extraordinary experiments to prove, or disprove, the existence of an afterlife. THE AFTERLIFE EXPERIMENTS This riveting narrative, with its electrifying transcripts, puts the reader on the scene of a breakthrough scientific achievement: contact with the beyond under controlled laboratory conditions. In stringently monitored experiments, leading mediums attempted to contact dead friends and relatives of "sitters" who were masked from view and never spoke, depriving the mediums of any cues. The messages that came through stunned sitters and researchers alike. Here, as they unfolded in the laboratory setting, are uncanny revelations about a son's suicide, what a deceased father wanted to say about his last days in a coma, the transformation of a man's lifelong doubts about the afterlife, and, most amazing of all, a forecast of a beloved spouse's death. Dr. Schwartz was forced by the overwhelmingly positive data to abandon his skepticism, reaching some startling conclusions. Compelling from the first page to the last, The Afterlife Experiments is the amazing documentation of groundbreaking experiments you will never forget.
Contains eye-witness accounts of seance phenomena and communications from several people from the spirit world. This book gives insight and understanding while providing encouragement and information to those working at developing physical phenomena themselves.
Ideal for scientifically minded individuals curious about life's spiritual side as well as spiritually inclined people seeking to back up their beliefs, this book offers evidence for the existence of telepathy, precognition, and psychic healing.
This book divides into two parts. The first is a personal narrative of the impact of the death of the author's son Ralph on him and his family and his efforts to see if there was any evidence for his continued existence (generated largely through visits to mediums) that a thinking person could take seriously. The second is an attempt to evaluate that evidence objectively (based on an extensive survey of current and past scientific research in the UK and the USA). The title reflects the inevitable tension between emotion and intellect in such an enquiry.
"In this powerful and brutally honest book, Keene exposes the secrets of the séance room, including ghostly apparitions, floating trumpets, 'spirit sex, ' and other tricks used by mediums to exploit believers."--Cover.
Harry Oldfield is an extraordinary scientist and healer who has spent the last 20 years proving that mystical emanations such as visions and psychic manifestations have a basis in science. A pioneer of the Kirlian photography, Oldfield has developed a photographic scanning method that can diagnose illness and photograph the chakras. He has also discovered an Electro-Scanning Method (ESM) which can ascertain a full medical history from a fully clothed patient in two minutes and founded a school teaching students his Electro-Crystal Therapy techniques.
What is mediumship? Why does the quality vary from being so accurate through to being vague and generalised? This book asked both those questions and attempts to provide an honest, factually guide to mediumship and psychic phenomenon. The book initially looks at what it takes to become a medium in simple steps, it then goes on to discuss some of the authors own experience and pitfalls when exploring the unknown. Finally it then goes on to look at evidence from around the world including scientific and peer reviewed cases including that of the Scole Experiment, Electronic Voice phenomenon. Done in a light hearted, easy to read manner, with contributions from some of the individuals involved in the studies, this book offers the reader an opportunity to explore the spirit world in open and honest way, from a typical, everyday person without the nonsense so often associated with supposed mediums and psychics.
