At Rosebud Academy, the spirits have their own haunting melodies. Up until a few weeks ago, eighteen-year-old Lissa Anderson drank, smoked, and partied hard. Now, though, she’s determined to be the straightest arrow at Rosebud, an elite summer program for classical musicians. But the unrestful spirits in the old school have other ideas. A spooky old dormitory, overprivileged students, and hours at the piano make the program into everything Lissa expected. What she didn’t expect is her quickly-budding romance with a cellist, a series of thefts related to scary stories, or the ghost determined to get Lissa’s attention. Dead men tell no tales, but dead girls do. This boxed set includes all three books in the Rosebud Academy trilogy: June's Blood, July's Flesh, and August's Bones. additional keywords: piano, pianist, classical music, academy, ghosts, haunting, gothic, mystery, horror, Colorado, forest, lake, storytelling, spirits
A fascinating blend of poetry and science, Ben-Oni’s poems are precisely crafted, like a surgeon sewing a complicated stitch. The speaker of the collection falls ill, and takes comfort in exploring the idea of “Efes” which is “zero” in Modern Hebrew, using that nullification to be a means of transformation.

The history of Lutheran engagement in the Black context in the United States is regrettably thin. The book helps Lutherans in the US and other students of American history to assemble a complete account of the role of early American Lutherans in higher education among African Americans. The book does so by tracing the stories of ten remarkable African Americans from their encounters with Lutherans through to the powerful and impactful lives of ministry and service they went on to lead. Diverse in place, time, and work, these ten mini biographies paint a richly unified portrait of the ways Lutherans have supported African Americans in higher educational pursuits.
The Rapid City Indian School was one of twenty-eight off-reservation boarding schools built and operated by the Bureau of Indian Affairs to prepare American Indian children for assimilation into white society. From 1898 to 1933 the "School of the Hills" housed Northern Plains Indian children--including Sioux, Northern Cheyenne, Shoshone, Arapaho, Crow, and Flathead--from elementary through middle grades. Scott Riney uses letters, archival materials, and oral histories to provide a candid view of daily life at the school as seen by students, parents, and school employees. The Rapid City Indian School, 1898-1933 offers a new perspective on the complexities of American Indian interactions with a BIA boarding school. It shows how parents and students made the best of their limited educational choices--using the school to pursue their own educational goals--and how the school linked urban Indians to both the services and the controls of reservation life.
