On recover ing consciousness, he was found to have lost sensa tion and motion on the left side of the body, to a very considerable extent. The hemianaesthesia im plicated the special senses. The magnet was ap plied to the left arm, and left in contact for an hour. At the end of this time the sensibility was tested and found to be perfect. The paresis had also notably diminished.
