Having emerged from the ashes of the Third Reich, the FPÖ was founded in 1956 by Anton Reinthaller, a former Nazi functionary and SS officer, who was the inaugural leader of the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ). Since it's establishment, the FPÖ has been responsible for neo-nazi activities, hate speech, press freedom attacks and violations of freedom of expression and belief. With national socialist offenses by the FPÖ increasing in frequency, the FPÖ needs to improve itself - also in view of links between the 2019 Christchurch mosque shootings and the far-right Identitarian Movement (IBÖ). Otherwise the FPÖ must be made illegal; as it is Austria's duty to combat the resurgence of neo-Nazi activities by rule of law. It is also imperative to end corruption and rule of law violations in the Austrian government - by bringing down the corrupt political establishment, which includes politicians from all major political parties in Austria - such as the ÖVP, FPÖ, SPÖ and the Austrian Green Party. This includes Chancellor Karl Nehammer and Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler - as well as Interior Minister Gerhard Karner and Wolfgang Sobotka (ÖVP) - who are responsible for political corruption and criminal activities in the Austrian government; including violations of press freedom. Also, the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution and Counterterrorism (BVT) is responsible for the resurgence of neo-Nazi activities and press freedom attacks - which is threatening to make Austria into a Nazi State again - if proper action is not taken to restore rule of law and democratic freedoms. Hence it is imperative that criminals in the BVT and DSN are brought to justice, so that rule of law can be restored in Austria. This includes bringing the fugitive Jan Marsalek to justice - as well as his accomplices in the Austrian government - such as senior Austrian diplomat, Johannes Peterlik, who is suspected of leaking confidential documents linked to the 2018 Novichok poisoning, when rogue Russian agents from the GRU attempted an atrocious assassination on British soil. Hence the NGO BTB- Global Peacebuilding will handle matters in the Republic of Austria in the meantime - until rule-of-law and political stability has been restored in Austria. It should also be noted that Chancellor Karl Nehammer - and his cronies in the Nehammer government - are doing absolutely nothing to manifest equality, equity and a Basic Income Guarantee (BIG) in the Republic of Austria.
Having emerged from the ashes of the Third Reich, the ÖVP Party was established in 1945, after Nazi-Austria was liberated by the Allied Powers. Being stuck in time - and never having embraced the spirit and culture of the Allied Powers - the ÖVP entered government in 2017 with the far-right FPÖ party, which was originally established by Anton Reinthaller, a former Nazi functionary and SS officer; both the ÖVP and FPÖ having been responsible for hate speech and neo-Nazi activities in Austria. It should also be noted, that Austria has fallen back seven places on the Social Progress Index (SPI); inequality and poverty increasing in Austria dramatically - the ÖVP Party being a willing and guilty collaborator in perpetrating inequality, injustice and human rights violations in Austria. It should also be noted, that the ÖVP Party's leader - Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz - is responsible for the facilitation of neo-Nazi activities in the Republic of Austria, and hence a disgrace to the International Community. Having entrenched themselves in an outdated political reality that is behind the times, the ÖVP Party is reluctant to go with the quantum approach of today's Information Age. This total inflexibility by the members of the ÖVP Party is not a virtue, but rather a vice, making the ÖVP Party a cruel and hypocritical organisation. At some point, the ÖVP organisation will simply have to learn to evolve and improve itself; otherwise the ÖVP Party will just wither and die out; like the dinosaurs for example, who also died because they were unable to change and evolve. Therefore it is necessary to teach the Austrian political establishment a lesson in humility, humanity and true political power - by promoting civil liberties and altruistic policies in the world, such as freedom of press and expression; as well as a Basic Income Guarantee (BIG). As in a world where there are no guarantees and as citizens who must be under government rule, we should at least be assured that we will be able to feed, clothe and handle the simplest needs of human beings - hence implementing a basic income guarantee is an important prerequisite to counteract inequality and to ensure basic human rights in Austria and the world at large.
At the World Holocaust Forum in January 2020, which marked 75 years since the liberation of Auschwitz - the former German Nazi death camp where over 1.1 million Jews were murdered - survivors issued a warning against a new wave of anti-Semitic violence in Europe. In an interview with The Times of Israel, President Reuven Rivlin chastised European governments that glorify Nazi collaborators as national heroes and downplay their citizens' complicity in anti-Jewish atrocities. At the same time, he slammed populist right-wing politicians in Europe who campaign on xenophobic and anti-Semitic platforms, in an apparent reference to parties such as Austria's FPÖ Party. Evidence-based research also indicates that the FPÖ Party is responsible for the facilitation of neo-Nazi activities in the Republic of Austria - as well as hate speech, anti-Semitism and Xenophobia. As things stand, the FPÖ is a disgrace to the International Community. Hence the FPÖ Party must not be too proud to receive help from the International Community and NGO's to improve itself - so that the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) can be restored in Austria. A cause for concern is also, that Austrian authorities have unveiled a design for turning the house where Adolf Hitler was born into a police station; in the northern Austrian town of Braunau am Inn where Hitler was born on 20 April 1889. This sends a dangerously, ambivalent message to the International Community; as this could be interpreted as a glorification of the Nazi dictator, as well as a blatant lack of empathy towards Holocaust victims. Hence it is imperative that Austria's ÖVP-Green government - namely the Kurz II government - implements the demolition of Hitler's house; since Adolf Hitler was responsible for the murder of six million Jews and millions of others by the Nazis and their collaborators during World War II. To the anti-Semitic Nazi leader Adolf Hitler, Jews were an inferior race, an alien threat to German racial purity and community. After years of Nazi rule in Germany, during which Jews were consistently persecuted, Hitler's "final solution" - now known as the Holocaust - came to fruition under the cover of World War II, with mass killing centers constructed in the concentration camps of occupied Poland. Approximately six million Jews and some 5 million others, targeted for racial, political, ideological and behavioral reasons, died in the Holocaust. More than one million of those who perished were children.
A survey of the state of human freedom around the world investigates such crucial indicators as the status of civil and political liberties and provides individual country reports.
Freedom in the World, the Freedom House flagship survey whose findings have been published annually since 1972, is the standard-setting comparative assessment of global political rights and civil liberties. The survey ratings and narrative reports on 195 countries and fifteen territories are used by policymakers, the media, international corporations, civic activists, and human rights defenders to monitor trends in democracy and track improvements and setbacks in freedom worldwide. The Freedom in the World political rights and civil liberties ratings are determined through a multi-layered process of research and evaluation by a team of regional analysts and eminent scholars. The analysts used a broad range of sources of information, including foreign and domestic news reports, academic studies, nongovernmental organizations, think tanks, individual professional contacts, and visits to the region, in conducting their research. The methodology of the survey is derived in large measure from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and these standards are applied to all countries and territories, irrespective of geographical location, ethnic or religious composition, or level of economic development.

An unflinching and intelligent alternative history of the twentieth century that provides a provocative vision of Europe's past, present, and future. "[A] splendid book." —The New York Times Book Review Dark Continent provides an alternative history of the twentieth century, one in which the triumph of democracy was anything but a forgone conclusion and fascism and communism provided rival political solutions that battled and sometimes triumphed in an effort to determine the course the continent would take. Mark Mazower strips away myths that have comforted us since World War II, revealing Europe as an entity constantly engaged in a bloody project of self-invention. Here is a history not of inevitable victories and forward marches, but of narrow squeaks and unexpected twists, where townships boast a bronze of Mussolini on horseback one moment, only to melt it down and recast it as a pair of noble partisans the next.
This open access book discusses financial crisis management and policy in Europe and Latin America, with a special focus on equity and democracy. Based on a three-year research project by the Jean Monnet Network, this volume takes an interdisciplinary, comparative approach, analyzing both the role and impact of the EU and regional organizations in Latin America on crisis management as well as the consequences of crisis on the process of European integration and on Latin America’s regionalism. The book begins with a theoretical introduction, exploring the effects of the paradigm change on economic policies in Europe and in Latin America and analyzing key systemic aspects of the unsustainability of the present economic system explaining the global crises and their interconnections. The following chapters are divided into sections. The second section explores aspects of regional governance and how the economic and financial crises were managed on a macro level in Europe and Latin America. The third and fourth sections use case studies to drill down to the impact of the crises at the national and regional levels, including the emergence of political polarization and rise in populism in both areas. The last section presents proposals for reform, including the transition from finance capitalism to a sustainable real capitalism in both regions and at the inter-regional level of EU-LAC relations. The volume concludes with an epilogue on financial crises, regionalism, and domestic adjustment by Loukas Tsoukalis, President of the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP). Written by an international network of academics, practitioners and policy advisors, this volume will be of interest to researchers and students interested in macroeconomics, comparative regionalism, democracy, and financial crisis management as well as politicians, policy advisors, and members of national and regional organizations in the EU and Latin America.
Human Security and Mutual Vulnerability: The global political economy of development and underdevelopment (Second Edition)
'Living as Form' grew out of a major exhibition at Creative Time in New York City. Like the exhibition, the book is a landmark survey of more than 100 projects selected by a 30-person curatorial advisory team; each project is documented by a selection of colour images.
