Shinobu receives a photo of a girl who highly resembles his sister, Megumi. The girl is allegedly a young genius mage who developed her own rune system—which the players of the world can’t see as anything other than Japanese characters. Vowing to follow any lead he can, Shinobu begins to search for the mysterious girl, who is said to be in hiding. He and his followers make their way to Abrasil, the home of his foster father Imabayashi’s guild, the Lions of Patriotism. There, they plot to track down the guild’s illegal activities in order to contact them in a race against time to track down the young girl before the Imabayashi does.
It couldn’t get any worse for Shinobu Iijima. After a terrible house fire consumes his life and puts his sister, Megumi, on her deathbed, Shinobu wakes up in his favorite MMO: La Vita Online. With all his data deleted and reset back to level 1, the only solace Shinobu has is that his scumbag of a foster father, Ayumu, died with him…only to discover he was reincarnated in the game as well?! A nightmare reborn, Ayumu pledges to get revenge on the siblings, biding his time until Megumi eventually dies and reincarnates in La Vita. While Megumi struggles through her last breaths in the real world, Shinobu does his best to grind his way back up the levels before her reincarnation. Armed with a hidden dungeon, his hard-earned legendary summons, and an undefeatable will, Shinobu must reach the max level in order to protect his sister from their foster father and the other reincarnators threatening to stop him at all costs.
After gaining more information about the reincarnators that control La Vita’s world from the shadows, Shinobu and his new apprentice Alice find themselves at the mercy of the Crimson Moon Brigade—a major guild also operated by reincarnators. Things look grim as level 83 Shinobu comes face-to-face with a full party of level 99ers—with orders to dispose of him on sight! However, instead of being instantly killed, he is shown a picture of his sister Megumi, taken in real time at a hospital in their home world. When he presses for more information, he learns about the mysterious Logout Tickets and all the trouble they caused the other reincarnators while he was in the tutorial.
After losing his father in a tragic accident, Shinobu Iijima and his younger sister Megumi are taken in by their father’s old friend, Ayumu. Shinobu works hard in the hopes of starting a new life for himself. Megumi, and a mobile game called La Vita Online, are the only things keeping him afloat. One day, Ayumu reveals his true intentions of tearing Shinobu down and getting his hands on Megumi. But just after Shinobu learns that Ayumu deleted all of his game data in La Vita, their high-rise apartment catches on fire and Shinobu falls to his death, Megumi in tow. He wakes up in a strange new world... and realizes he’s been reincarnated into the world of La Vita Online. An announcement from the devs tells him that Ayumu is already there, and a countdown to Megumi’s arrival is ticking. Shinobu vows to protect Megumi after she arrives at any cost, even if it means he has to crawl his way up from level 1 to fend off all the other reincarnated players.
The world is in peril. Legends live, fairy tales walk, and fantasies become reality, threatening to turn Earth into a waking nightmare. When the flames of war reach Japan’s shores, the vestiges of a shattered nation fail to protect what remains of its people against an unknown enemy, and all seems lost. Those left behind and those that failed to flee now live in scattered communities among the remnants of a better time. Yu Ichinose is just another survivor, a quiet, scrawny middle-schooler trying to get by. That is, until he finds his fate bound to a mysterious, elvish girl who seems to hold the key to hope. Now, the time has come to stand and take up the sword against sorcery. To become the hero who saves the world. The time has come to awaken the Asura Frame.
The young Sain Forth has it made. As the famed Holy Knight, he enjoys the love of his people, the respect of his ruler, and the blessings of a literal goddess. Or, at least, he should enjoy them, but Sain’s aspirations lie elsewhere. His assistant, Melia, by his side, he sets sail for the academy of a foreign kingdom, only to be treated as a deviant by his peers. It’s his own fault, mind you—his stubborn insistence on wearing a custom, all-black uniform makes him stick out like a sore thumb. But he isn’t the only outcast at the academy. His classmate, Alicia—born into the Clan of Light yet unable to use anything but fire magic—faces a similar struggle, and so the two quickly become allies. However, when she proposes they go searching for a holy sword hidden deep within the academy’s dungeon, he hesitates—dungeons are dangerous, monster-ridden places, after all. Eventually he reconsiders, but on one condition: “I want a doom sword. Not a holy sword, okay? A doom sword.” And so, his friends in tow, Sain ventures forth into the perilous unknown, driven by his one true wish: To become the coolest, edgiest, and most awesome existence imaginable, the Dark Knight. There’s just one problem: He can’t use dark magic. Like, at all.

Disillusioned businessman, John Lawrence Locke, finds himself summoned as a hero to another world, filled with monsters and magic! With his body reverted to the age of fifteen, the thirty-three-year-old's mind is filled with the possibility of battles and adventures, like the ones in his favorite video games. Unfortunately for him, life isn't also so convenient. Betrayed by the very people who summoned him, he's condemned as the False Hero and forced to flee for his life. Alone in an unfamiliar world and hunted by all of humanity, he takes on the alias of Lutz and uses his gaming knowledge to quickly adapt to the world's strangely game-like mechanics.
Summer is upon Jenifa, which means it’s time for the academy’s most well-known event — the magic battle expo. Though the numerous stalls and attractions filling the school grounds offer plenty of excitement, the greatest draw of the event is undoubtedly the one-on-one tournament between students. People come from far and wide every year to watch Jenifa’s best go at it against each other. What better chance, then, for Sain to put his burgeoning dark magic skills to the test? So, the strongest holy knight in history takes another step toward becoming the antithesis of everything he’s supposed to stand for and joins the tournament. With his faithful friends at his side and his dark magic actually starting to shape up, he was set to have a blast at the battle expo... until he runs into the student council president, Cain Theresia, whose attitude toward him has been growing increasingly suspicious and hostile. With both of them participating in the tournament and vying for the top, the stage is set for a fierce clash of words and swords. “You know what you need to do, Cain? Lose. Just once. Then, you’d realize that you’re not fighting on your own.”
Arcus is still leveraging his otherworldly scientific knowledge to improve his magic. On hearing news that Lecia, his beloved sister, had been kidnapped, Arcus set off to rescue her, only to be thrown into the Holy Tower. There, he runs into an old friend...or rather, enemy. They say no one can escape the Tower, but if he doesn’t, there’s no telling what might happen to Lecia...
