Colin and Izzy Griggs' traditional farming way of life is under threat from red tape from Brussels and Whitehall. Taking inspiration from a doughnut, Colin sets up a "Hole Farming Business". His first job is to supply 18 holes for the newly refurbished golf course. Colin's ineptness leads to a number of incidents surrounding the grand opening, creating an arch enemy of the Club's Captain: Major Woods. His business is given a much needed boost by the arrival of Lady Wills into the Manor House. She requires holes for her ornate ponds but before awarding the contract needs a reference from Colin's previous employer: Major Woods. How will Colin manage to get the reference he needs to save his business? How exactly do you manage to farm holes? And who is really wearing the stockings in the Griggs household?Set in the rural village of Henslow, The Hole Opportunity is a true English farce with miscommunication, double entendre, humorous plotlines and a host of memorable characters.
While fooling with a gun, Tom Potts shoots a bullet that seems to be unstoppable. A hole on each page traces the bullet's path.
In the recent past, significant strides have been made in the domain of plant growth regulators (PGRs) and biostimulants. In the sustainable utilization of plant germplasm PGRs and biostimulants play a pivotal role. With a magnified growth rate and less risk of inducing clonal somaclonal variations, PGRs (such as auxins, gibberellins, isoprenoid and aromatic cytokinins, ethylene, and abscisic acid) serve as a boon to plant biologists especially those working with rare endangered and threatened species and medicinal and aromatic plant species. Furthermore, the combined effect of PGRs with LEDs (light-emitting diode) on various aspects of plant development is an area of research gaining attention. The use of biostimulants to promote plant growth, yield and stress tolerance has increasingly gained attention. However, their functional role in the growth and development of plants is not clearly understood.
This story details the life of a growing boy in the throes of life and describes his activities through early manhood. The story starts at roughly the age of three with the continued involvement of his family and friends along with schooling and job experiences.

Antarctica and the surrounding Southern Ocean remains one of the world's last frontiers. Covering nearly 14 million km² (an area approximately 1.4 times the size of the United States), Antarctica is the coldest, driest, highest, and windiest continent on Earth. While it is challenging to live and work in this extreme environment, this region offers many opportunities for scientific research. Ever since the first humans set foot on Antarctica a little more than a century ago, the discoveries made there have advanced our scientific knowledge of the region, the world, and the Universe-but there is still much more to learn. However, conducting scientific research in the harsh environmental conditions of Antarctica is profoundly challenging. Substantial resources are needed to establish and maintain the infrastructure needed to provide heat, light, transportation, and drinking water, while at the same time minimizing pollution of the environment and ensuring the safety of researchers. Future Science Opportunities in Antarctica and the Southern Ocean suggests actions for the United States to achieve success for the next generation of Antarctic and Southern Ocean science. The report highlights important areas of research by encapsulating each into a single, overarching question. The questions fall into two broad themes: (1) those related to global change, and (2) those related to fundamental discoveries. In addition, the report identified key science questions that will drive research in Antarctica and the Southern Ocean in coming decades, and highlighted opportunities to be leveraged to sustain and improve the U.S. research efforts in the region.
Ronald Burt describes the social structural theory of competition that has developed through the last two decades. The contrast between perfect competition and monopoly is replaced with a network model of competition. The basic element in this account is the structural hole: a gap between two individuals with complementary resources or information. When the two are connected through a third individual as entrepreneur, the gap is filled, creating important advantages for the entrepreneur. Competitive advantage is a matter of access to structural holes in relation to market transactions.
Jimmy Kavanagh has a genetic condition where he absorbs and stores iron from his diet over and above the body's requirements (Haemochromatosis). He is unaware of this. As time progresses, with increased ferritin levels he exhibits many traits of storing iron: oxidisation (rusting), becoming magnetised, and having strong bones (excess iron is stored in bone marrow). Through various childhood experiences he realises he is different but doesn't know why. After a significant event in which he saves Barbara, the woman of his dreams, from possible death he realises he can control his magnetism. His life is further complicated after coming to the attention of the KGB. They are interested in all things paranormal, and the CIA who are determined to stop the Russians. Life for Jimmy is further complicated by Sheila. Her father is Irish though she was born in Australia. Unbeknownst to her she has Haemochromatosis but of course, from the Southern hemisphere her polarity is reversed. Will Jimmy and Barbara live happily ever after? Can he manage to thwart the Russians, and CIA. Since opposites attract does his future lay with Sheila?
