Christian Hofmann (ca. 1773-1816) bought a farm in 1798 in present-day Page County, Virginia. He married Christena Gochenour in 1801. Many descendants use surname "Huffman". Descendants lived in Virginia, Missouri, Kansas, and elsewhere.

John Christian Hoffman was born in about 1705 in Germany. His parents were Hans Georg Hoffman and Catherina Margaret. He married and had seven children. They emigrated in 1751and settled first in Virginia and then moved on to Orange County, North Carolina. He died in 1780. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.
Joseph Byerly (b. ca. 1730-1740; d. 1803) immigrated from Germany to Pennsylvania then moved to Rockingham County Virginia. He married Martha between 1786-1788. Descendants lived in Virginia, Ohio, Tennessee, Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, West Virginia, Nebraska, and elsewhere.
