Excerpt from The National Eclectic Medical Association Quarterly, 1923, Vol. 14 Morse Harrod, M.D., was born in Middletown, Marion Township, Allen County, Indiana, April 4, 1866, a son of Morgan and Belinda Harrod. He received his early education in the township schools, and at an early age received a teacher's certificate. He worked on the farm in the summer months and attended school in the fall and winter months. At the age of twenty-one he began reading medicine in the office of Dr. Joseph L. Smith, of Hoagland, Indiana. In September, 1889, he matriculated in the Eclectic Medical Institute of Cincinnati, Ohio, graduating in the spring class of 1891. He located in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, June 1, 1891, and has been successfully engaged in the general practice of medicine and surgery since that time. He was elected coroner of Allen County, Indiana, in 1892, serving four years. He was elected president of the Indiana Eclectic Medical Association in 1905, of which he has been a member for more than twenty years.
