Welcome to the first edition of The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Mindset in Project Management. We provide a roadmap to help project managers foster an equitable project team environment without barriers to opportunities, including developing an inclusive space where all team members feel welcomed, valued, respected, and engaged. The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Mindset in Project Management primary goal are centered on exploring how to incorporate and advance diversity, equity, and inclusion principles, tools, and techniques throughout the five (5) major project management process groups: Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring/Controlling, and Closeout. We focus on developing the professional (nontechnical) skills, growth mindset, and systems perspective needed to lead projects effectively and equitably. Gain fundamental knowledge of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE/I) principles, concepts, techniques, terms, and definitions. Develop a growth mindset by recognizing, identifying, and demonstrating the attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors that underpin the inclusive and equitable management of technical projects and cross-functional teams. Demonstrate the ability to engage a systems approach in applying a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE/I) mindset to managing technical projects and teams. Develop and apply the leadership and professional (nontechnical) skills required to be an inclusive and equitable technical project manager.
