David Bray Sr. (ca. 1744-1836), probably the son of English immigrants Peter Bray and Martha Scott, moved from Brunswick County, Virginia to Northampton County, North Carolina between 1747 and 1762, served in the Revolutionary War, and acquired land in 1784 in Surry County, North Carolina. Descendants and relatives lived in North Carolina, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, California and elsewhere.
