They located in Canada in 1826. Our subject obtained his early education in the common schools, suplemented by courses of study at Rockwood Academy and the Victoria University, at Coburg, Ontario, where he pursued a classical and scientific course. Deciding to make the practice of the science of medicine his life work he became astudent of the Toronto School of Medicine. He continued his studies in the University Medical College of New York city and after obtaining a diploma from that institution returned to Canada and attended the Queen's University, Kingston, Canada, at which he graduated in 1857. He began to practice his profession in Melbourne, Richmond county, Quebec, remaining there until 1865. In that year he located in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, and there he has continuously practiced his profession. He has been successful in his profession and enjoys the confidence of the entire community. Politically Dr. Bowers is Democratic. He is a strong advocate of Democratic principles and firmly believes in the doctrines of the party. He is ever ready to aid his party during its campaigns, and labors earnestly and zealously to assure it success at the polls. Four times has he been honored by his fellow citizens by being elected Mayor of Fond du Lac. In 1879 he was elected for the first time, and so well did he administer the city's affairs that he was re-elected in 1880 and in 1881. Again, in 1892, was he-brought forward as the right man for the right place, and was again elected to the Mayoralty.
