The prayer of Jesus in John 17 was that His Church would be one, and that together we would display the glory of God to a lost and dying world. Our unity would prove our message. Sadly, we've badly missed the mark. Bishop Robert lifts the veil on what the Holy Spirit has been doing across the globe, enflaming hearts of believers everywhere to fulfill Christ's prayer. Today, God is moving His Church to the place of unity we see in John 17! Count to One lays a simple and compelling foundation every believer can stand upon, examining the issues and answering the questions everyone asks about overcoming the barriers to genuine Christian unity.
Have you ever wondered if the church is truly changing people? Why are so many people walking in and out of church meetings today without being transformed by the power of God? David Drew brings us back to Gods original vision for the body of Christ as he takes the lid off deception running rampant in the modern church. The mainstream church appears to have it all together, has good intentions, and in many cases even bears fruit, but doesnt look at all like the church God describes in the Bible. See how it is Gods perfect will and the worlds greatest need for the church to be re-formed in His name, according to the biblical pattern of unity. Drawing from David's experience in ministry as well as recent revelations and encounters, the author offers a wealth of life-transforming truths inside these pages, including: - Why the establishment of thousands of different Christian denominations, groups, and ministries currently in the world, with different names and logos, is incongruous, cannot be Gods will, and bears all the marks of a diabolical master schemer. - Why 90% of the worlds population cant believe, and why our world is in chaos. - Why the Christian churches have lost their power. - Why the enemy's -"divide and conquer" strategy must be stopped dead in its tracks. - How a perfectly united, citywide church can operate in the 21st century. - Why marketplace ministry is a powerful asset to bring citywide transformation. - Why we must cooperate with Jesus and let Him build His church!
Excerpt from The Centre of Unity: A Sermon Preached at the Consecration of St. Paul's Church Llanelly on Friday, December 13, 1850 T may seem at first sight, my brethren, as if these words had but little to do with the joyful occasion which has brought us together here this morning. But I am afraid that there is a very close connexion between the two sub jects; so that it would hardly be possible to meditate much upon the one without having our thoughts turned toward the other. I say, I am afraid; for the subject referred to in the text is one which we should wish to banish from our minds, if by doing so we could make the thing itself cease to have a place among the realities of our being, and especially if we could shut it out of the Church of God. No doubt it was with great reluctance, with deep sorrow, that the Apostle addressed the Corinthians on this subject; though but for this, we should, atthis day, have wanted all the instruction con tained in this most precious epistle. It was not a subject which he chose, but one which was forced upon him by the exigencies of the time. And perhaps it might have been reasonable to hope that what he was thus compelled to write might have saved the necessity of ever returning to the subject again; if we did not know that the evil, which he strove to repress and extir pate, is so deeply rooted in the nature of man, and springs up and spreads so fast, that it cannot be expected to disappear altogether, until He who sits upon the throne shall say, Behold, I make all things new. And so we are not permitted to rejoice even in this glad solemnity, without being reminded of that which saddened the Apostle's heart; without remem bering that the plague which he tried to stay is still raging around us, yea amongst us; without observing that the words which it drew from him eighteen centuries ago are still applicable for our admonition. Christian unity is the result of a shared faith in Christ and His gospel. This is what emerges from Dr Lloyd-Jones' consideration of John 17 and Ephesians 4 in the addresses to the Westminister Fellowship republished here. His presentation was given against the background of the ferment of discussion and debate engendered by the ecumenical movement of the time and demonstrated that unity is never something arrived at by ignoring or minimizing truth. The debates have moved on, but this lucid examination of the issues underlying Christian unity remains as relevant as when first presented in 1962. It points to timeless truths which should never be obscured.
