Was caused by the pressure of clots upon the brain. It is quite evident, how ever, that a violent congestion of blood to the brain often produces coma and that the hmmorrhage succeeds rather than precedes it. It is a fact that recoveries from apoplexy often follow without paralysis. If there was effusion of blood within the cranium, paralysis would necessarily follow from the pressure of clots upon the brain.
