Excerpt from The Bulletin of the Alumni Association of Rush Medical College, 1909-1910, Vol. 6 The injection of homologous galactose-killed streptococci in local streptococcus complications of scarlatina and of erysipelas has in many cases a marked effect in hastening recovery. This series of fourteen rather refractory cases shows 36 per cent. Of recoveries and 28 per cent. Of improvements due, apparently, directly to the inoculations. The average initial dose should be about cocci (galactose-killed). Large doses, especially if repeated at short intervals are capable of producing harmful results.
