The first edition of the Centennial Buckeye Cook Book was published in 1876. Between 1876 and 1905, a total of thirty-two editions of the cookbook were published, and more than one million copies sold. The book began as a project of the Marysville, Ohio, First Congregational Church when the women of the church decided to publish a cookbook in order to raise money to build a parsonage. Their effort launched a cookbook that rapidly became one of the most popular publications of nineteenth-century America. This is the first reprint of the original 1876 edition.
In this new volume featuring over 230 photographs, Buckeyes colorful history is told by a lifelong resident of the Buckeye Valley. Meck has woven a tapestry of words and images that tells the rich story of this desert town as it strives to retain its past amid the changes emerging around it.
This book delves into the history of some of the unique individuals and groups, past and present, who have made a memorable impact on their community throughout its history.
This book delivers not only the historical context of that season, but also the humanity of it. Through interviews with authors, the players and assistant coaches tell their stories of the talent, the friendship, the charity, the drive, the devotion, the knowledge, the ups, the downs, the tantrums and the care attendant to that championship season.
