Piracy on the Seven Seas has reached a fever pitch. The black flag poses a constant danger for merchants and navies, as unscrupulous brigands seek their fortunes. But there are more dangers afoot than pirates: beasts lurking under the waves, rumors of haunted and immortal ghost ships...and the demon named "Reis." This book contains material for 7th Sea: Second Edition including new Backgrounds, Advantages, Stories and Sorceries. It also includes five new Pirate Nations: Numa, the land where legends were born and never left. La Bucca, the once-prison island turned headquarters for international intrigue. The Atabean Islands, where the ghosts of Rahuri ancestors sail alongside native peoples. Aragosta, home of the Brotherhood of the Coast and a pirate paradise. Jaragua, self-liberated slave colony and home of a new Sorcery called Kap Sevi. Pirate Nations also includes new setting materials for 7th Sea featuring the Devil Jonah, the dreaded Reis and Theah's first multinational, the Atabean Trading Company. There be adventure aplenty in these lands, more than any one crew can hope to see in a lifetime.

Though the history of slavery is a central topic for African, Atlantic world and world history, most of the sources presenting research in this area are European in origin. To cast light on African perspectives, and on the point of view of enslaved men and women, this group of top Africanist scholars has examined both conventional historical sources (such as European travel accounts, colonial documents, court cases, and missionary records) and less-explored sources of information (such as folklore, oral traditions, songs and proverbs, life histories collected by missionaries and colonial officials, correspondence in Arabic, and consular and admiralty interviews with runaway slaves). Each source has a short introduction highlighting its significance and orienting the reader. This first of two volumes provides students and scholars with a trove of African sources for studying African slavery and the slave trade.
"Inside, you'll find examples of basic leather working tools and techniques for using them, how to cut a hide into straps, how to apply grommets, rivets and snaps. Patterns and instructions for making wrist/bicep band, belt, Sam Browne belt, two kinds of bondage belt, suspenders, bondage cuffs, hogtie straps, D ring collar, locking buckle collar, leash, chest harnesses, stockings, head harness, strapon harness, seven gates of hell and braided handle floggers. All of the gear in this book can be made without a sewing machine and with a minimal set of tools that fit inside a book bag. If you make your own gear, you can save a considerable amount of money - a piece of gear that sells for $120 in a leather store would take an hour and $20 worth of leather and hardware to make." - from back cover.

For the better part of the last two centuries, the name Hermès has been synonymous with the world's highest quality luxury goods--from the Paris company's original saddlery items of the 1800s to its famous silk scarves of the 1930s, to today's celebrity-endorsed Birkin bags. At present, the company operates workshops specializing in 16 distinct crafts--each employing experts of the highest order, from saddlers to tailors, perfumers, jewelers, hatmakers, cobblers, watchmakers and designers of printed silk or home decor. Within each craft, specific skills are broken into meticulously precise gestures, measurements and actions known by name only to the insiders. In this volume, authored by Olivier Saillard, director of the Galliera Museum of fashion in Paris, Hermès for the first time in its history reveals 100 "previously unspoken" terms essential to its handcrafted ethos. With wit and poetry, Saillard explicates these terms, providing a glimpse into "a territory dedicated to the hands, its range and variety of activity often unsuspected, a never ending ballet of agile fingers steadily handling tools over tamed materials."
