He only uses this name to sign legal documents. He played his last match for Brazil in 1971. However, even after that, he remained a popular player and the nation’s pride. Pelé retired from the sport in the mid-1970s when he felt his pace has slowed down. At the time of retirement, Pelé had scored 1283 goals.
