Excerpt from The Annual Report of the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Institution for the Deaf and Dumb, for 1856 It is very desirable that the deaf and dumb should be taught to form letters with a pen or pencil, and, if possible, to write the names of common objects, before they are sent to the Institution. This can be done without much difficulty, and will save much valuable time. The most advantageous time for the admission of pupils is the first of October in each year, and punctuality in this particular is important, as new classes are formed at this period. Payments are expected to be made in advance every six months. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
