Herman Ross was born 27 May 1827 in Stonycreek Township, Somerset, Pennsylvania. His parents were Jacob Ross and Susanna Schenefeld. He married Catherine Lowry, daughter of John Lowry and Mary Fichuer, 22 October 1848. They had six children. Herman died in 1870. Catherine married John A. Faust, a widower with nine children, 1 September 1872. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Ohio.

Georg Philipp Heuss (1764-1832), son of Johann Peter Hartmann and Anna Maria Heuss was born at Neckarrems, Germany. His descendant, Wilhelm Friedrich (1833-1904) was born in Ludwigsburg, Germany. He immigrated to Ohio in 1854 and married Mary Kopp in 1857. They later settled in Jay County, Indiana. Kopp ancestry traced to Hans Kopp (156401612), born in Aidlingen, Germany. His descendant, Friedrich, immigrated to the U.S. in 1852. Descendannts and relatives lived in Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, and elsewhere.
