Sir alfred jones had been a successful man in life; he was also a successful man in death, in that he had left behind him a reputation of doing good to his fellow men. It had been a great thing (as Sir patrick manson had just said) that, at a time when Tropical Medicine had but a few friends in England, a man with the determination and the good will of Sir alfred jones had been present to give a helping hand.
