Excerpt from The Alumni Review, Vol. 7: November, 1918 In View of the nature of the work and of the class of students here this year, it is necessary to think of Chapel Hill as an army post and the campus as a University camp. Accordingly, the lectures sebed uled by the University lecture committee have been planned as 'a part of the recreational activities of the men, and are designed to present to them in an interesting, clear and attractive way topics of vital interest to them in view of their own activities, and of the world-situation. Lectures will be given from time to time during the year on the great problems of today or the future - the history and function of the navy, in the past and during the Great War of today; mili tary problems viewed in a large way, especially in connection with the conduct, strategy and tactics of the' present struggle; surveys of the immediate fut ure, after the war problems, industrial, political, social and economic.
