Jeremy Williams captured the nation’s imagination by coaching his high school football team to unprecedented heights while combating ALS and caring for a son with spina bifida. This is his family’s inspiring story. America first met Jeremy and Jennifer Williams when Extreme Makeover: Home Edition rebuilt their Depression-era farmhouse into a beautiful, handicapped-accessible haven. Friends, family, and neighbors from their west Georgia community—and all over the state—came together to support the ailing high school coach who had won their respect and their hearts. It made for compelling television but only told a little slice of the story. Tenacious gives you the rest—a tender love story, a thrilling sports story, and an unforgettable testimony to the power of faith and grit in the face of almost overwhelming adversity. In Tenacious you’ll meet: The distraught parents learning their son would be born with spina bifida. The young father facing his own devastating diagnosis of ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) with matter-of-fact courage. The coach who guided his underdog team to a 10–0 Cinderella season—while struggling to walk, talk, and even breathe. Packed full of faith, hope, love, and miracles, Tenacious is a story you don’t want to miss.
"A devastating attack upon the dominance of atheism in science today." Giovanni Fazio, Senior Physicist, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics The debate over the ultimate source of truth in our world often pits science against faith. In fact, some high-profile scientists today would have us abandon God entirely as a source of truth about the universe. In this book, two professional astronomers push back against this notion, arguing that the science of today is not in a position to pronounce on the existence of God—rather, our notion of truth must include both the physical and spiritual domains. Incorporating excerpts from a letter written in 1615 by famed astronomer Galileo Galilei, the authors explore the relationship between science and faith, critiquing atheistic and secular understandings of science while reminding believers that science is an important source of truth about the physical world that God created.
This book is written for people who are tempted to leave the church because the message they have been hearing has come to seem intellectually unacceptable, morally objectionable, or spiritually deadening, maybe even all three. Often, these people see no alternative to the version of Christian faith that they now find difficult to accept. They have been told that rejecting anything they have been taught means ceasing to be a Christian. What they have been told is wrong. But seeing new possibilities means reconsidering assumptions that are often taken for granted, and it can be difficult to imagine on your own a form of faith different from what you are used to. This book provides some help. It can be thought of as a guide for those who see the need to let go of some of what they have been taught, but don’t know how to replace it with something better. Rethinking your faith can be scary. But giving up on what is unbelievable can help to clear the way for the kind of faith that is more believable and ultimately more satisfying. Changing your mind can be a way of saving your faith.
Faith to Conceive is a book about the challenges my husband and I have encountered in trying to conceive a child. Although everybodys story is different, Gods unmovable, unshakeable love remains the same. My prayer is that my journey would encourage, motivate, and inspire women and couples to trust in God to conceive. The story of Hannah is an excellent example of Faith in action! This book takes you through my journey and goes deeper into the life of Hannah and her faith to conceive a son who became a leader in the nation of Israel and a prophet of God. Since God shows no partiality, I know he would do the same for you. Stir up your faith today and allow God to have his way in every area of your life. As a woman, there are internal and external pressures for us to fulfill the very essence of our womanhood, and that is to give birthbirth to dreams and visions, and mostly, birth to life. There are circumstances that we face that sets a tone of discouragement, despair, and defeat, which we are tempted to speak when our heart-filled desires do not happen as we expect. We all face it in some area and time of our lives, but it is in how we respond that determines our outcomes. Michelle Joseph, a woman who endured the mountaintops and valleys, even the desert, expressly shares her journey to conceive. Michelle takes you through her struggle to live and to love, the battle to remain hopeful, and most of all, the trying of her faith to trust God at his will, way, and word. As you turn the pages, Michelle shares her emotions, cry to God, and prayers. Her hope is that you will be encouraged to stand on the promises of God and not lose hope for your desire to come through, knowing that God loves you and he is with you and for you (Minister Simone Rawlins).

Readers will be able to engage Scripture more deeply and reflect on its meanings, nuances, and imperatives for living a Christian life in the twenty-first century. Continuing Liturgical Press's long tradition of publishing biblical scholarship and interpretation, this commentary also answers the Second Vatican Council's call to make access to Scripture "open wide to the Christian faithful." This is a true story of one young man's faith journey to successful double-lung transplant and beyond. He celebrated, with flying colors, his second anniversary from transplant on April 11, 2012! As with all success stories, there is so much more than what meets the eye. The sole and soul intent of this book is to convey and instill in the reader a spirit of optimism, encouragement and an inner peace of heart and mind. These and so much more are readily available to one and all via the God of Peace. Therein, lies the cliché', "More than meets the eye." Wholehearted trust in God and in those He has gifted in the medical profession, together with all others behind the scenes, the family, friends and donor family is integral to the success of transplants of every kind, as well as with every other malady. Yes, it is truly a team effort as co-workers together with God. The young man in the story would be the first one to attest to that fact. His level of faith through it all has been tenacious, and through it all, he, family and countless others has learned to trust completely in the "Great Physician", without wavering or reserve. God's will is always going to be done in all our lives. Jon, the recipient of the donor lungs in this story, inspires all of us to stay focused upon the Author and finisher of our faith life, and the Giver of every generous act and perfect gift (James 1:17). Be blessed as you read his story and know, the best is always yet to come to those who truly know, love, trust and obey God.
Fully one-third of Jesus' words in the Synoptic Gospels occur in parables. It could be said that knowing the parables is essential for understanding the person of Christ. In this work, Brad Young displays his unique perspective as a scholar steeped in both Jewish and Christian studies. While parables have timeless messages, reinterpretations in new contexts throughout the centuries have distorted the original meanings and undermined the essence of what Jesus intended for his initial listeners. Young examines the parables that best illustrate the parallels between the rabbinic and Gospel parables. He challenges readers to remember that first-century Judaism was not merely the backdrop for Jesus' teachings but the very stage from which Jesus delivered the message of the kingdom. Jesus' ethics and theology can be properly understood only in the light of first-century Jewish teachings. Young focuses on the historical development and theological significance of parables in both traditions and examines five theological subjects that are dealt with in parables: prayer, grace, reconciliation, calling, and sovereignty.
