Organized to police the city of Neopolis, which was built following World War II to house the world's growing number of superheroes, heroines, and villains, the members of Precinct Ten investigate a variety of bizarre events.
Joe Fitzgerald entered Hell to find out what happened to Laura, the greatest love he has ever known. At last, he has found her...only to be captured by the same man who killed both of them and seized Laura's spirit from deep inside Heaven. It's the beginning of the confrontation Joe has been fighting to make happen ever since the Angel put him on this mission, but nothing's going his way. If Joe dies this time, it's permanent, and he and Laura will be trapped in Hell forever.
Issue twelve signals the emotional conclusion of the first title from Joe's Comics: the latest war between Heaven and Hell is over, for now, with casualties as far as the stars themselves. But Laura's fate is still to be resolved. When Joe makes a life-or-death request of the Powers, a favor beyond anything he could have imagined, will they consent...and lift the veil between life and death one last time?
Joe Fitzgerald finds himself with a most unusual companion on his journey to Hell: an angel cast out by Heaven and unwanted in Hell. Soon they find themselves hunted by dark forces determined to stop their mission to rescue Laura...and only one of them may survive to see the journey to its conclusion.
Joe Fitzgerald's journey has taken him from Earth to Purgatory to Hell itself, a bloody path made of equal parts love for his beloved Laura's spirit, and his desire for revenge against those who plucked her from her refuge in heaven. What began as one man's quest becomes a struggle between the forces of light and dark that could topple the very foundations of heaven itself...depending entirely on which way Joe goes. Will he choose love above all else and let the world burn? Collects TEN GRAND #7-12.
What began with a simple assignment has turned into a war for the very throne of Heaven itself, with Joe Fitzgerald caught between two massive armies of Light and Dark. It all comes down to one decision, one moment, and based on what he decides the universe itself may come apart at the seams. Will Joe go all the way for love? Or will he save the world but lose his soul?
Set against the tumultuous political backdrop of late ’60s Chicago, My Favorite Thing Is Monsters is the fictional graphic diary of 10-year-old Karen Reyes, filled with B-movie horror and pulp monster magazines iconography. Karen Reyes tries to solve the murder of her enigmatic upstairs neighbor, Anka Silverberg, a holocaust survivor, while the interconnected stories of those around her unfold. When Karen’s investigation takes us back to Anka’s life in Nazi Germany, the reader discovers how the personal, the political, the past, and the present converge.
This second volume of the ongoing annotated translation of Ssu-ma Ch'ien's Shi chi(The Grand Scribe's Records), widely acknowledged as the most important early Chinese history, contains the "basic annals" of five early Han-dynasty emperors. The annals trace the first century of Han rule (206 BC to ca. 100 BC) in a year-by-year account that focuses on imperial activities. In The Grand Scribe's Records, Ssu-ma Ch'ien revitalised the style of the annals he had written for previous rulers. Here are accounts of the peasant who founded the dynasty, Liu Pang, a man noted as much for his licentiousness as he was his ruthless political instinct, and of his cruel wife, Empress Lÿ, who murdered her chief rival for Liu Pang's affections in the most gruesome manner. The annals of two relatively undistinguished emperors follow. The volume concludes with Ssu-ma's depiction of perhaps the greatest ruler of the Han, Emperor Wu, told within the context of his delusive attempts to find a means to achieve immortality. When completed this translation will bring all 130 chapters of the Shih chi into English. Volumes 1 and 7 were published by Indiana University Press in 1994.
