This book is a "how-to" generic approach with minimal theory by a well-known and very active participant in the leading maintenance organizations and conferences. The book offers a fundamental, common sense understanding of RCM. A significant portion is dedicated to SAE JA1011 compliant RCM. The book presents detailed processes that can be used when RCM is not applicable and presents a total solution for implementing RCM for any organization. The primary market for this book is anyone responsible for Physical Asset Management within an organization, at any level of authority. The material will be just as valuable to an organization's maintenance manager as it would to the organization's leader. The book's principles will be presented generically so they are equally applicable to any industry in the world that has assets to care for - military, manufacturing, mining, plastics, power generation, etc. There is also a secondary market for this book at colleges and universities teaching reliability engineering.
This market-leading text provides a comprehensive introduction to probability and statistics for engineering students in all specialties. This proven, accurate book and its excellent examples evidence Jay Devore’s reputation as an outstanding author and leader in the academic community. Devore emphasizes concepts, models, methodology, and applications as opposed to rigorous mathematical development and derivations. Through the use of lively and realistic examples, students go beyond simply learning about statistics-they actually put the methods to use. Reach back into your childhood and recapture the leadership principles you learned from your favorite toys. Authors Ron Hunter and Michael E. Waddell take a nostalgic look back into their childhood toy boxes to revisit the valuable leadership and life lessons we all unintentionally learned during playtime. While these lessons started in fun, as adults, we’ve complicated the principles of leadership - cluttering them with popular trends and theories. Toy Box Leadership clears away the clutter and takes listeners back to the simple and essential roots of the most effective and unchanging leadership best practices. In this book, you will learn: what Lego bricks can teach you about building your business through connection; how Slinky Dog demonstrates the value of patience when you're growing your organization; what every kid learned from the Little Green Army Men that can be used in business strategy; and many more playful and insightful lessons. Whether you still feel young at heart or your childhood seems to be a distant memory, Toy Box Leadership will bring you back to the place where all important life lessons began to reinvigorate your ability to influence and lead others in the playground of life.
This open access book focuses on practical clinical problems that are frequently encountered in stroke rehabilitation. Consequences of diseases, e.g. impairments and activity limitations, are addressed in rehabilitation with the overall goal to reduce disability and promote participation. Based on the available best external evidence, clinical pathways are described for stroke rehabilitation bridging the gap between clinical evidence and clinical decision-making. The clinical pathways answer the questions which rehabilitation treatment options are beneficial to overcome specific impairment constellations and activity limitations and are well acceptable to stroke survivors, as well as when and in which settings to provide rehabilitation over the course of recovery post stroke. Each chapter starts with a description of the clinical problem encountered. This is followed by a systematic, but concise review of the evidence (RCTs, systematic reviews and meta-analyses) that is relevant for clinical decision-making, and comments on assessment, therapy (training, technology, medication), and the use of technical aids as appropriate. Based on these summaries, clinical algorithms / pathways are provided and the main clinical-decision situations are portrayed. The book is invaluable for all neurorehabilitation team members, clinicians, nurses, and therapists in neurology, physical medicine and rehabilitation, and related fields. It is a World Federation for NeuroRehabilitation (WFNR) educational initiative, bridging the gap between the rapidly expanding clinical research in stroke rehabilitation and clinical practice across societies and continents. It can be used for both clinical decision-making for individuals and as well as clinical background knowledge for stroke rehabilitation service development initiatives.

Intended for upper elementary and secondary teachers in all subject areas, this guide provides practical advice on determining the appropriate application of computer technology and on the selection of specific, subject-related computer-based instruction units. Under the heading of hardware and software, topics discussed include communicating with a computer, computer size, getting and using user's programs, translators and programming languages, and the elements of a program. The computer is analyzed in terms of its uses as instructor, laboratory, calculator, object of instruction, and instructor's aide. The selection of computer-based instructional units is described from the beginning of the selection process through final decision making. Individual papers then focus on uses of the computer in the following specific areas: art education, business education, instruction for the deaf and hard of hearing, elementary school, language arts, mathematics curriculum and instruction, music education, physical education, secondary science, natural science, and the social sciences. "Keys to Recognizing General Purpose Languages," and some primary sources of computer-based instructional units, are appended. (LMM)
